I just got my maxx and will be breaking it in tomorrow....I was looking at the low speed needle screw, how can I get a screw driver in there to adjust it? Its at a bad angle.

I use a small percision screw driver and I bent it slightly so I can reach the screw over the top of the tanks

I think its a bad place to put the low speed needle. Especially for something you need to adjust every now and then.

Long thin one. The LHS has them. Jewellers screwdrivers are usually tough to get in there, since the handle gets too wide to get comfortably between the spur and tank.
Or, do what I did. Reverse the carb, and change your linkages accordingly.
Once the LSN is right, it rarely need to be changed.

Pasted this from a PM, after the server problem:

Hi Rolex,
I was reading your reply's helping out another guy. I was hoping you can help me out.
I was breaking my tmaxx in today and having an issue. I left all needles at stock settings and followed the manual. First 3 tanks went smoothly. Well on the 4th tank I started having an issue. I would go full throttle, as the manual says, then gradually slow down. Well during slow down, the engine would die. I assumed richening the HSN would help but it did not. Then I thought speeding up the Idle speed would help but it did not. I made various adjustments to the HSN that it got to the point where it wouldnt start. So I adjusted the HSN to 4 turns from close. Now my tmaxx starts but now it hesitates badly during initial acceleration and sluggish as its running. Any tips you can give me? I replaced the glow plug as well and still has this issue.

Turn your HSN in to 3 1/2.
Set the LSN flush with the ring. NOT the throttle linkage ring, but the ring inside it. Then turn the LSN in about 1/16 of a turn.

Flush?? I'm not sure what you mean by flush???

I found it. This thread took a walk on me. Still having some server issues.

Okay. When you look at the actual LSN, it's inside a ring, and then there's the linkage ring outside that. The LSN screw head is flat. Make the top of the flat head even with the inside ring.

Okay...done. The LSN is even with the inside ring. Do I need to do anything to the HSN or Idle needle right now as well?

Okay...I adjusted the needles according to how you said. However crank it up first thing tomorrow morning. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. The temp in my area has only been in the low 50's. Will that make a difference? Also my idle screw looks like its screw in pretty much all the way in. Do I need to adjust that as well?

That temp isn't much of a problem.
The needles are now about where they should be to get you running. Once it starts, then let me know how it behaves and I'll get you tweaked in.
Good luck with it. I might be on and off the site several times tomorrow, so I'll watch for your post.

Only after you get it running. Make sure the carb is open about the thickness of a credit card at idle.
Set the idle while twitching the throttle, to allow it to 'accept' the changes as you adjust it.
Do that with the radio trim all the way down.
You can then raise the trim, if necessary, to help it run till it warms up.

I'm not sure where all the way down is on the radio trim. Does that mean the line on the know should be aligned with "0"?

Some people use the 'Zero' line, but if the idle is adjusted there, it will close the carb enough to stall the engine when the brake is applied.
Turn the trim all the way down till it stops. Counter clockwise.
Then adjust the idle screw.

thanks rolex.....I will try again tomorrow and keep you updated.
