Hey Guys,

Well I made it exactly one year and a day before loosing my wedding ring. I was working in the back yard and I figured I would take it off, put the ring in my pocket. That way I would not loose it. Right? Well I was a tad bit mistaken. I finished my work in the yard and went inside, showered and the whole nine yards. Well after I got dressed I went looking to put my ring back on.... well I found it was gone. I searched the house high and low. Went outside and looked everywhere I thought I was at and then some. The yard is a little over 2 acres so I had my work cut out for me. Well I gave up about dark, and decided it was a loss. Funny thing was my buddy had showed up by then and we were supposed to go out for a couple of brews and a bite to eat. Well I ended up going and the funny thing is my wife was out of town visiting some family, and when she called I told her I was in a bar, and I just happened to loose my wedding ring earlier in the day. She thought that was funny. I thought she was going to kill me... but she was cool and said at least it was not hers that was lost. So I guess I will be looking for another wedding ring here soon. LOL

Anybody else ever loose their ring?

Tom

Nope. But sometimes I forget to put it on in the morning and thats when things go bad for me. Snippy comments about "selective marriage"...

2 acres huh? Go and find it Tom, there is no reason this ring should be gone ;)

considered using a metal detector? who knows what else you may find!! if i were you i would give it a try!

I am trying to find a metel detector as we speak. I figure I would give it another try. The problem is finding someone that has one. I am going to keep looking for it. This is precisely the reason I just bought a plain gold band... I know myself too well. The good news is the wife is not upset and in fact even jokes about it. Hopefully I will find it, but if not... I guess I get to go ring shopping all over again! LOL

I lost my wedding ring about 5 years ago, I took it off at work and left it on a pile of confidential waste, at the end of the day i binned my waste in the 'industrial' shredder......... (it shreds metal as well as i found out)

Nope, you can't lose what you don't wear. I wore my Ring on my Wedding day, and maybe the first day or two of our honeymoon. I have not worn it since then, over 12 years now, I don't wear any jewelry.

nope...7 years and still have the same one. i only wer mine to work or when we go out. Once i'm home, it goes on the ring stand my wife has.

my Brother in Law however, lost his on the 4th day of his honeymoon. he went snorkling in the morning and didnt realize until lunch it was gone. my sister took in stride tho. saying that whoever finds it will make out nicely when they pawn it off.

lucky for him, he was smart enough to get it and my sister engagement ring insured. when they got home they made a quick call to the insurance company and had a check to replace it two days later.

I still have all 10 fingers. can't loose what you dont take off. 14 years now.
I'm left handed so I wear it on my right hand 99% of the time. My wife wears a ring but its normally not the wedding ring I gave her.

I know some couples that have split over the loss of a ring. Well at least thats what they say. I can understand being upset about the loss of a sentimental object but its just that, an object. The love and TRUST that wearing one or not wearing one is a completely different issue. Its only a symbol of your vows not some kind of brand or tag you need to wear to show your love as some would think.

I hope you find it. Just sit down with your wife and praise her for understanding the situation. Add a little wraparound in there for good luck. Sounds like you have a keeper.

Yeah, I am very lucky. She was not upset in the least. In fact she laughed at me. Ed, she said the very same thing.... It is just a ring, and wether or not you are wearing it doesn't mean anything about the relationship. The mutual trust and respect that we have for each other exists with, or without the ring. I will keep looking for it, but if I don't find it.... not a huge deal. Like she said... at least it was not hers that was lost! LOL I was definitely more upset about loosing it than she was. Great girl she is. I am sure eventually I will replace it, but for now it is not at the top of our priority list. If I get another, I will probably leave it on the ring stand and only wear it on special occasions and such.

Almost 18 years of marriage and I have never taken the ring off for more than 15 minutes when it gets dipped in the cleaner. Fingers have gotten a little chubby over the years from when I got married, so I really have to work to pull it off. No danger of it falling off.

Nice to have an understanding wife there Tom.

Tom,

Do you happen to have a scuba diving shop near you? I work at a scuba shop and we have a metal detector, people come in all the time saying they lost a pair of glasses or a ring, one guy last year lost his wedding ring, but he said he had to find it that night or his wife would kill him haha.

Good luck.

My fingers are wierd. I was sized before buying the ring, so I figured it would not be a problem. Fact is, that if my fingers get cold the ring falls right off. It also falls off if my hands get wet. If my hands are warm then the ring fits just fine. I figured since my hands were going to be wet that I ought to take it off and put it in my pocket. Thought it would be safe.

Hey AC there is a dive shop about 20 minutes from here, I will call to see if they have one I can borrow. Thanks

Tom

Easy way to locate your ring. Run the lawnmower around the yard and listen for the clinking sound. Only kidding.

I haven't lost my ring for more than a day. I take it off to do yard work, maintenance chores, or when working around moving machinery. I've learned to put it in a spot where it is clearly visible like the kitchen counter.

Normally that is what I do as well. Usually put it on the kitchen table where it is easily located until I am done the work. This time I was already covered in dirt so I figured lets not dirty up the house that she just cleaned. I got lazy and it cost me. I really do feel like an ass.

Same here, I wore mine for a week and couldn't take it anymore, the only jewelery I wear is a watch.

I just need to get mine tatooed on! LOL

Tom

i dont take my ring off unless I'm taking a shower or going to sleep. Ring, Watch, Glasses go right on the night table, and they go right back on as soon as I get ready for the day. Even when I'm working in the yard I just wear a pair of gloves. We spent WAAAAAAAAAAY too much money on my wifes rings but thankfully, they dont fit any more since she got preggo so hers still looks brand new. You would think mine is 20 yers old already and its not even been a year. I know how forgetful I am. I loose things all the time so there is no way I'm taking it or my watch off unless its something real important.

As for your ring, metal detector is prolly going to be your best bet. Or if you didnt tell the wife I would have said to run out and get a replacement.
