Lost Controller From Buggy

Hello,
My friend has a buggy that He is trying to sell me, however he has lost the controller for it, but I seen you can buy crystals. So If I had a controller myself if i bought some crystals would I be able to run the vehicle.

It should work unless one of the radios is an AM and one is an FM.
