loose wheel nuts

Has anyone had issues with the left/"drivers" side wheel nuts coming loose while driving? this has happened to me twice and both times lost the wheel nuts thus ending my play time early. I'm not trashing Traxxas, i love thier products, but I am a little surprised they did not use left handed threads on this side of the truck. I currently use two nuts per wheel (tightening them against each other and one of the nuts is nylon threaded.

I buy new ones every now and then to combat this, theyre cheap. I carry a bunch, so if I notice them loosen up I'll throw and new one on and we're good.
It would be quite nice to be threaded the other way though. Perhaps someone has done this?

my savage was the same way only the left one. I put locktite on lt and it worked

Any metal to metal connection needs locktite. Don't rely on the nylock. Just be sure to stay away from the red, heavy-duty locktite unless you really like the wheel/tire combo.

Nyloc nuts will wear out after being loosened and tightened a few times.

Carry spares and use a dab of blue loctite as mentioned.

Also tighten down the nuts every time you refuel. Loosing a nut sucks, but sometimes you can also spin the wheel hex and ruin the wheel in the process.

Yes I have ruined a set of bead locks like that. Made me real happy...argh. That is why the original Savage had reverse threaded nuts on the one side. A lot of good ideas above. Use blue lock tite and check at fill-ups or battery change. So far it has worked and no more ruined rims.

thanks all for the advice, I will pickup an ample supply of wheel nuts and keep them in my parts bin and change them more often. And also use loctite on the wheels. I use use it elsewhere but never considered the wheel nuts. Also does anyone have any opinons on the splined hubs such as these?

also if you did screw a wheel up because of a loose nut, make sure you didnt round out your hub as well. i didnt check the hub on my last screwed up wheel, and it tore through the next wheel within an hour.

I have them in a drawer, but haven't used them yet. I have a set of pro-lines on my revo and bought a set of these on ebay to have as spares.

Use the blue gel locktite. It works a lot better on wheel nuts than the liquid stuff. It doesn't really dry/cure like the liquid stuff and it hangs on better in the larger threads like axle nuts. It works better on pretty much everything and is all I use now. I keep a stick of blue loctite in my field bag since it's smaller. It works really well too.
