Hi, I'm also thinking of getting an onroad car.

There's only one groomed track in my town, and it's far from where I live. The other tracks are parking lots with board barriers. I'm also a n00b when it comes to onroad racing.

With these in mind, it seems that I would be better off with a shaft car?
My choices at the moment are:
HPI RS4 18SS (best value, but seems to have trouble with swaybars?)
Kyosho FW-05RR w/ sponge tyres (could get a V one RRR for the same price)
Tamiya TG-10 mk.2 chassis kit (the brand is known for being toy-like)

I've seen the NTC3 layout and I don't like how it needs special header and pipe. Also, the Mugen MSX seems very rare, not sure where to get parts from.

The Savage is more durable than any TC. The parts on a Savage are twice as big as the parts on a TC.

The sway bars appear to be working on my RS4.

I would also recommend you guys looking at the new car coming up through the races and winning is the GPX4. This is the car Paul Coleman is running

I have driven all 3 cars - The NTC3 and RS4 have been around and proven themselves but are older cars and the GPX4 is the next standard

That's nice to hear.
Does the 18SS engine for the RS4 3 come with SG shaft and slide carb?

Also, I wonder where I could find an OS 18TZ with SG shaft and slide carb. The ones at Tower are std shaft with rotary carb.

Thanks in advance.

What do you guys think of 1/8 on-road? the serpent 950r and the Mugen MRX-4 look like they are build for racing to me.

1/8 racing is an animal of another color. I don't race those cars. They are fast but demand a lot of care and upkeep, as well as more driving skill than the usual r/c found in the parking lot.
