Hi...I'm looking for anyone in the Hampton Roads Virginia area that's into nitro dirt bashing. I haven't been into racing for a few years, but looking for some informal running in the area, or Navy people to run on the naval base track on weekends.

Russ...I'm in the area. Own two MTs and a Buggy. El Pirata is also in the area. He runs up at Ft Eustis, but I think he is taking a break from the hobby. MilitaryMaxx is another fella from NOB. He runs a Maxx as his name implies, but I think he owns others.

I'll be departing the area for about a month, but will be around from the first week in Feb until the next trip (some time way down the road).

No kidding?....I figured El Pirata was from the area, based on his pics of the Panama Canal...I've lived in Norfolk for about 13yrs, and I just bash with my nitro truck...went to Debbie's R/C last spring to watch (nitro racing doesn't interest me), but I would like to find a descent micro track, because I still have the itch...We have a semi-nice track to run on at NOB, but it needs work, and the weather isn't cooperating...If you know of any informal get-togethers, let me know...I'd like to play and talk shop...Thanx.

i am from richmond id like to get to know others around the area with the same expensive hobby as i do.

the football field is getting old but the snow mounds are sweet.

I'm from Norfolk i think if i tried to get on the base i would be shot.:tank:

What kind of car/truck do you run?...if you're into offroading, I'm sure I could get you on the base to run at the track when the weather gets better, and it dries out. If you're into onroad, I know of a public tennis court that's awesome for just going fast...it's off of Tidewater Drive.

There's a track on the base? Since Sky returned last night we are going to try bashing either next weekend or the following weekend. We don't have when or where set in stone yet but you're welcome to join if you want.

I haven't been on in a while...Yes there's an offroad track at NOB. It's between the auto shop and the bowling alley, near gate 3. It needs a little work, due to the winter and being overgrown. But it has a driver stand, track barriers, and all the basics are there...I put a little work in it myself last spring, but deployed in June...when this God-awful weather clears up, I'll be out there.

Many of us have probably run into each other on base and didn't know it. There were a bunch of us out there last Sunday. Sunday around 2 use to be the time to meet, but sometimes it's hard to keep that commitment because of other things. Anyways, the track is looking good. They changed to double jump on the back to this modified table-top with some challenging angles to it. It's packed pretty good, but dusty. If you get a chance to check out the newly re-configured track at Debbies R/C world, go check it out. This thing looks like it will eat up truck/buggies and spit them out. Much more challenging than what they had. For now, the base track will do just fine. It's good for me to work on my skills.
I plan on going Saturday but their calling for rain. Then again, a little mud might be what the doctor ordered.

hey guys sry to post on such an old post but i had to lol

is the track on the base worth going to? I've been to debbeis but have never run on it becuase i dont have 30 bucks for the insurance. is the a hobby shop by the track or is it just a track? and is it free to practice?

Hi Loser-
I was looking over old threads, trying to catch up. The track is open 24/7 and is free. The hobby shop on base is 2 buildings down from it, but they don't have much in RC parts...it's mostly trains and static models. The track may need a little work, but we pitch in as we go, so bring a shovel....have fun.
Are you going to make the HR Bash on the 25-26th in Hampton?

i have debbies insurance and all that, hopefully the new track in chesapeake will be just as wicked as the track in va beach at debbies.

Russ, i have a mugen mbx4 xr, and hopefully soon to be nitro on road touring.

I never got into racing onroad cars, but I did have a nitro tc awhile back. If you're looking for a place to just go fast, I know of a public tennis court that's awesome to run on in Norfolk.
