Air leaks can be found in the following locations:
pin holes in the tubing (fix - replace it)
around the cooling head (fix - tighten it)
around the backplate (fix - tighten and seal with O2 safe silicone)
around the carb (fix - seal with O2 safe silicone)
banjo fitting (fix - replace washers, don't overtighten)
fuel supply nipple on tank (fix - seal with O2 safe silicone)
loose glow plug (fix - check metal gasket, replace if needed)
bad front bearing (fix - replace)
EP is right, we need more info. A piston/sleeve replacement demands extra special attention. You need to make sure everything is put back together properly as well as making sure all the internals are in good shape, that all the surfaces were prepped properly. After you are confident that the engine was re-assembled properly, that everything is sealed up good, make sure all your settings (LSN, HSN and idle), are set back to factory.
With a new piston/sleeve you're basically starting over and "engine break-in" will be required. Trying to run it initially with your old settings would be harmful.
