Okay, I have had my monster gt for about 8 months and while I enjoy it, I am looking to move into a buggy. I will mostly be running it with some friends at their track as well as running it around my yard and possibly a little street running. Since I am familiar with nitro, I am looking to build a kit. I don't feel that spending 500-600 on a kit is wise for what I will be doing, so I am looking at the Hyper 7 TQ kit. I think it would be a good starting point and I could build it up if I ever feel the need. I will be putting an Airtronics MX-3 radio and 200oz servo in it, so I just need an engine. I am interested in the Sportwerks .26 because it seems to be very user friendly when it comes to tuning and maintaining, and since I won't be racing at a track I won't be limited to a high end .21. I would like to know if this would be a wise choice for a buggy and would this be a good engine for it? I only ask about the engine because I think I read somewhere that it won't fit in the Hyper 7 TQ. If this is true, what other engines would be a good alternative? I would like to keep the cost below 200.00. Again, I don't feel that I should be putting a 300.00-400.00 engine in a 250.00 buggy that will not be raced seriously. Thanks.

i just got the hyper 7 pcr and man that thing is built like a tank.. lol i thought my ultra gt was tough.. the arms on this thing are twice as thick as my gt was..

one of our bash guys has a sts .28 on his gs storm.. man that thing rips.. its got WAY more power than the tires can put down.. and its cheep to like under 175.. pm wannarunem and ask him where he got it.. you wont be disapointed..

the pcr is the pbs with "paul coleman racing" upgrades (hence the PCR part) dunno about the others.. i would asume the basic parts are though.. like chassis and diffs and stuff the BIG thing they changed was arms out and driveshafts (i think!! if i wrong dont flame!! i have only owned two buggys!!)

I do not think that the sporwerks .26 will fit. A hyper .21 pull-start is a fairly tight fit, and the sporwerks has a huge back-plate compared to others. However, it can fit w/ either new engine mounts, engine risers, or a new back-plate.
And, the sportwerks .26 is a good engine, it's easy to tune, makes good power, and holds a tune very well.

And yes, pretty much all the parts (if not all) are interchangable because they are all built on the same chassis platform. However, the PCR and PBS have the pivot-ball suspension, wheras the TQ and H7 have C-hubs up front, and different arms because of that.

So the sportwerks will work fine with new engine mounts or risers? Do you happen to know which mounts would be a good fit? This is my first buggy so I am not really familiar with this. I'm about to start ordering everything, so I would like to know exactly what I need. Thanks.

Sorry, I really have no idea, I ordered my TQ kit w/ a hyper .21, so I really don't know what parts you would need, hell, I don't even have my TQ kit yet, it'll be here wed. All I know is that the sportwerks .26 is most likely too big to fit.

Actually, I think that all the rear-arms are the same, upper and lower, the only difference is the hubs, but up front I'm pretty sure the upper arms are different, and I think the lower FR. arms are different as well. But after looking at the two kits, I can tell that the rear arms are the same.

But, once I get my TQ, I'll let you know what all the differences that I can find are.

Sounds good. I won't be ordering mine for another week or so, or until I figure all of this out.
