RC Driving Style
So today I was suppose to trade my Duratrax Raze for a 1.5 T-maxx. Well after I spend the 2 hours to get where we were meeting, I call him and he he doesn't want to do the trade anymore. So then I was pissed. I get home and look on craigslist and there a guy that wants a buggy for his 25 savage. Hell, he got a call i about 5.3 millaseconds. Well now I am the new owner of a Savage 25!! Only a couple questions so far. There is only a 2 speed o them right? The back diff is locked, should i keep it that way or back to normal? The shocks are not the best and what shocks do you guys recomend?? And the engine I have is a Pro tech 21. What do you know about it? Well thats all for now, but more to come in the savage section. Oh ya one last thing, does any savage owners out there happen to have one dog bone for the front?? This one is missing the front right dogbone.

Thanks
Zachary

Runs really great. Its goes just as fast as the buggy went only in first gear then it hits second and just damn right books. and thats only running 2wd

You got a much better deal than you would have with the maxx. Though I'm mad with you about the guy skimping out on you halfway through. Savage parts are easy to come by on towerhobbies.com.

Not sure what you were trading but it looks like good deal to me since I'm a big fan of the Savage!

Trans - 2 speed from factory but 3 speed is available

Locked rear - personal preference on driving style - I like mine locked

Shocks - I like the stockers, cheap and easily rebuilt, great for bashing but can be tuned enough for racing.

Don't know anything about the Protech engine

Dogbones are only $12 a pair at my lhs, but I have 1 used one that I'd send you since I don't get to run my truck right now. PM me an address.

What tires are those on the truck? I like the looks of them. Looks like they are on stock T-Maxx rims right?

With the rear locked up is that better for bashing?
And the tires are imex road dawg or at least thats what it says on the tires, and I have no clue the rims they are mounted on.

The locked rear is good if you like to swing the rear out in corners or do wild doughnuts on loose surfaces. Also good for mud/snow or where one wheel loses traction.

The bad is on grass and asphalt it makes the truck push instead of turn.

Just try it for a while and decide for yourself how you like it.

I am sorry you didnt get the maxx. they are easy and cheap to build and the parts are everywhere. But way to go.

real quick where can i get a manual for it. its the Savage 25 rtr

You'll like the Savage more; as a person that's owned a maxx and has a savage now, I'd take the savage any day.

The diff, I'd recommend putting it back to normal. Locked diffs are just asking for broken parts.

I don't know much about that engine, but you could probably use it towards HPI's trade-in program.

If you're going to install the 3 speed trans into it, grab an X center case. It'll save you hours of frustration.

The stock plastic shocks are actually pretty decent. As for hopup shocks; just say NO to Integy.

I don't see an air filter on that puppy; stock one from the X is a direct fit.

You'll enjoy the savage; I get a huge smile on my face every time I run mine.

You'll really like it. Parts are everywhere. Stock parts, upgrades, whatever you need.
I'm glad you've got a dogbone for it, now you'll really enjoy it. I'd also lose the locked rear and go stock.
Try the link on the main page for TeamFastEddy. He might have the manual there in .PDF.
