What's the truth behind running longer nitro/fuel line from the tank to the carb? Is it true you waste less nitro at idle? How long is the line supposed to be? How big is the difference and is there any downside to that?

A longer delivery line helps the engine to stay running when a vehicle is on the lid. A longer pressure line smooths out the "pulsing" effects of the exhaust going into the tank, making tuning easier in some cases.
 
on my revo , i put the shortest line possible from the tank to the carb ...i also have a good size fuel filter ...i see a diff in tuning ...it basicly eliminated the half tank lean issue ....i get a pretty stable tune from full tank to empty tank ....with the stock fuel line lenght , it would lean out quite a bit as fuel went down
 
the way i see it , shorter line makes it easier to push the fuel to the carb ..

.for example , when you drink out of a normal straw , its pretty easy to suck in the liquid ....but take a longer straw thats all twisted ...and youll have to suck harder to get your drink ..same thing for a fuel line

not sure if that makes sense ...( it does to me ..lol )
 
Never put common sense to it like that. I guess I'll be shortening up my line and give it a try. I'll let you guys know how it went.

Metalhead Matt was correct, also a longer fuel line between tank and carby allows you more time with the tank lid open when refuelling when you have the engine on.

what Macguyver is saying is also correct but when he is sucking on a straw he does not have a back pressure force greater or equal to the force that he is sucking. So shorter lines do not allow more fuel in.

There is no "perfect" length. It is down to you rig and where you want the fuel line going. I prefer a longer line as it always me more time to move my fat ass to flip the rigs when I roll them and longer time to refuel with the engine on.
 
good point ....the short line might not give it more fuel ...but the way i see it , it makes it easier for the fuel to get to the carb ....it just has a couple inches to push it through instead of a 1 foot line .

but like you said , there probably is not a perfect lenght ....on my revo , the short line made it more stable as the fuel goes down in the tank ..it doesn't lean as much
