hey,
i just lost my bolt on my WHEEL AND i was wondering if its ok to use blue loctite on the bolts thAT HOLD the wheels on?
 
heck ya it is, just dont use the red stuff. trust me from experience, it will lock the screw or nut in place and it wont come back off again. bad idea!:nono:

AFTER picking up my savage today with new unstripped rim and bolts, i asked him the same question, and he was like no nono no not on nylon coAted....this true?
 
Loctite does not mix well with plastic bolts.

However, the wheel nuts only have a small nylon ring at one end; the rest should be metal. I use blue loctite on my wheel nuts and have yet to lose one.
 
It's ok to put the BLUE loctite on them. It won't harm the nylon.
 
i made a mistake of putting the red stuff on mine. man that poop doesn't come off. i had to get abut 20 new screws becuase i had to cut them off, but now i put the blue stuff on and it works great.

You can use blue or purple loctite on the wheel nuts. If you use red, and want to get it off, you have to heat it up. I use a large soldering gun, and heat the nut or bolt. It takes about 300 degrees, and then it becomes soft.
 
no, i am talking about not getting them off of shock towers, skid plates, motor mounts. those types of things! not wheel nuts.

Blue loctite will do the job better than red. It is removable so that is why. I dont think red is neccessary except for maybe engine parts and stuff that is vibrating constantly.
 
WOW, ty for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!! neway, one more question. My engine is a little bit loose. Under the engine on the purple metal chassis part, i noticed a metal bar with 2 screws in each end. I beleive one screw has fallen out and that is why it moves a little bit. Is this bad? What part fixes this? Also, I'm so excited my motorsaver airfilter and venom temp guage are coming in in 2 days!!!!!!!!:banana: :banana: :banana: :buggy1: :banana: :banana:
 
i dont have a savage but i am pretty sure taht that is not good. i might be wrong but i would go and replace the screws IMEDIATELY, before anything bad happens.

trust me, u didnt want to see jme getting the car. Seriously...I've owned it for 3 weeks. Its been running bout 4 days out of those 21 days.

You need to replace the screw. A loose engine mounting plate will allow the engine to pull away from the spur gear during bumpy driving conditions. This will result in a stripped spur gear (I have proof of this sitting next to me at the moment...damn spur gear).
 
if you don't like using loc-tite on your wheels, try using 2 nuts on each wheel. the 2nd nut will hold the first in place and the two being up against each other will keep the 2nd on.

I don't know about you but I have a hard time getting one nut, but two:worship:
