I don't use loctite at all and mine don't fall apart.
They do break and wear out though.

Loctite 248 is the stick version. I bought a stick 3 years or so ago and it is still going with lots left.
I've had mine I'm guessing for at least 4-5 years, it wouldn't surprise me if it was longer than that.
Here's how much I have left:
There is about 1 1/2 inches worth of loctite still left. The stick itself is about 2 1/2 inches (no including the black knob at the bottom) so I've still got a ton left.
