yeah i got a pep boys but its far away. i seen the advertisment in the paper and i seen a rustler in there. pep boys carries everything:hehe:

The Pep Boys around the corner from me is carrying the stuff. price on the slash is $229. not bad considering all the LHS in my area are out for the slash. it allowed my nephew to have something to open up on Christmas morning. :D

That price on the slash is higher because it comes with a battery and charger in the box, am I correct? (The Slash at my local Pep-Boys have the Traxxas Power pack and Charger in the box with box art demonstrating it comes with the truck).

I think this may be a pep-boys exclusive?

it only means that every 13 year old is going to have one of these trucks.... it happened with the 1:1 scales..... pep boys and such carried "tuner" parts (crap) and every one bought it and thought they were tuners......

Yeah, I'm going to go buy a slash and think I'm a rc enthusiast. :hehe:

Nothing wrong with a market flooded with a particularly good rc, that just means when the idiots are weeded out, they'll be selling their "junk" truck for pennies on the dollar when it only needs a $5 part. Be patient, this ain't like the car scene.

For $239.99 I picked this up at Pep-Boys, every other LHS was sold out claiming they won't have them in stock till next month, etc...Pep-Boys staff sure make it a point that once you open it you CAN NOT bring it back to the store for a return, and must deal directly with Traxxas for support which is fine because I'm sure their customer support is worlds better than Pep-Boys anyway. Pep-Boys is somewhat of the "cheap date" when it comes to radio control purchases. Drop in, get what you need, and don't look back. I am glad to see they filled out the display with hop-ups, wheels, tires, and replacement parts. I must correct myself, I thought they sold nitro but it appears they just sell the slash/ stampede/ and rustler in electric form only (at least at my store). The Slash is $239.99 obviously, and the Stampede and Rustler are both $199.99 with the similar battery and charger package included in the box. In my case this was a 7.2v 3000mAh Traxxas Power Cell and a somewhat generic 8.7v 350mA wall charger that would certainly handle the task, but expect 10+ hour charge times.

I assume this is an exclusive item, but don't quote me on that. I've never seen a Slash online or at a hobby shop that came with the battery and charger in the box. It really works out if you didn't already have a battery to use in the truck. I have cut the stock charger and added banana plugs to the end of it so that I can use my charger, so the charger being kinda cheap was a plus saving me from buying a charge adapter.

Anyway, I'm more than likely going to race it stock with friends this spring at our local track. I've already seated in the brushes per the manual's instructions, and had some fun out in the snow. I haven't done any crazy roosting with it yet, I still want to make sure I've broke it in and put a few low drain cycles on the pack just to play with the truck. I'm still learning brushed motors and as much as I'd like to just order a brushless setup and be done with it, I'm trying to keep this one stock so that I can run in spec class races. I will just have to see what our track has to offer this spring, there may be more people running mods anyway.

you had to put the brushes in your motor. i didnt have to on my slash

No, I didn't. The manual instructs on how to seat the brushes as part of the break-in, which involves the initial pack ran through the truck to consist of only smooth acceleration and steady rpm for the duration. I may have just said that incorrectly, as I said I'm a complete newbie to brushed motors.

You didn't state it incorrectly, that is exactly what you have to do to "set" the brushes. They are sealed motors, Suicide, thus no brushes to replace and no comm to turn...

that is why you can run the motors in water. are brushless motors the same

my pep boys is doing the same thing. might go pick up a rustler... hop it up with some brushless and go racin!

I went the other day to get a battery for my explorer, and was amazed how many hop-ups and parts they had....
