If you have an electric sc rig then post up what batts you are using, what cheap packs you have found to be good or bad.

At the moment I'm running Turnigy 5000 mah 2s packs wich say they are 15c but i have read a bunch of places that they are actually 20c. Paid $20 each and they are doing very very well for me, long run times. also running a EC Power 4000 3s.

I have a battery coming with the Slash I got. I'll let everyone know how it is when it gets here. It is a Thunder Power RC 5000 maH 2s 7.4V 40C.

I know it does not qualify as cheap, but I use a MaxAmps 2S 6500HC hard cased pack.

not even close Rob lol.

Most guys at our track are running the Trinity 4500's and 4200's, because they have a built in cutoff. That feature is more important on a spec slash than C ratings. Since we have to run the stock speedo, which supports no lipo cutoff, the trinities are ideal.

Most would use a different battery if the damn Novak cutoff worked right with the XL5.

Running the Zippy 2s 4000mAh red hard case lipos from HobbyCity, no problems so far. ~$27.99 + Shipping.

Get about 18 minutes on stock setup with 25/96t gearing, so far thats the most I've pushed it anyway. I don't want to rely on the low voltage alarm at the track so I use the timer on my DX3S radio.

They have been ^^^ out of stock on the 5000 zippy's for a while now wich sucks but they do have the turnigy 5000 in 2 and 3s, the 3s is $30 and they have the Rhino packs too for dirt cheap.

All I got to say is you get what you pay for, there's good reason that those packs are only $30, and the others are $80+

SMC 5200 2s. Venom 5000 2s. both work very well, though the SMC is a much better pack. had Zippys in the past work verywell too.

going to be getting a few new 2s packs so I'm looking for good info.

a few of my guys are running the Zippy FlightMax packs with great results.
and those Thunder Power packs are very nice as well.

Ok LOL I know this is a super old thread that I am reviving, but i had to say something, The reason they are cheap is because they are from china! But they are very good batteries, I have some for all my rcs an they are great, an A TON cheaper, :thumbup1:

Ok I feel better now, sorry:o

SMC 4100 - great battery and was fairly cheap if I remember correctly.

I currently use Trinity Intellect 3800 35C in my SC10 and Reedy 5000 35C in my SCRT10. Just found some Tenergy 5000 40C batteries that are made my Intellect for $70, a steal for batteries of this caliber. Gonna have to get a few of them for sure.

EDIT: Found a website called www.precisionrc.com and they have the Intellect 5000 40C batteries for $65, and the Intellect 3800 35C for $61. I am very happy with my Intellect batteries and would recommend them highly to anyone that races. Probably not worth the $$$ for bashing though.

I use a 2S 5000mAh Venom LiPo and a cheap Chinese ACE 2S 4000mAh LiPo, both 25C. They work just fine but the Venom seems to last longer. I used to have a 2S 4000mAh Zippy hardcased LiPo as well and that ran really great and was quite cheap.

I recently bought a venom 20c 3s 5400....it lasted about 10 balance charges.....then shes at 4.03-4.20-4.20 sucks to have spent $11 bucks a charge.

I use Turnigy 25C 3S 5800mAh Packs, Plenty of runtime, and $40 Each! Bargain over here in the UK! ;)
