Although there are a few "roadies" around here RCNT has never really been a hot spot for on-road enthusiasts. Well, after years of considering buying an on-road I've finally taken the plunge due to my current track project. Although not strictly an R&D car it wore than likely won't see any race action if I'm ever to follow thru with my oval track project. The order is in and with the exception of the powerplant being on B/O EVERYWHERE I will have everything by the end of the week. I don't plan on building until I go on vacation in early Oct. so you're just gonna have to stay tuned. :P

What's involved?

Losi JRX-S Type-R kit
Losi sway bar kit
Losi springs (12 pair)
Novak Havoc Pro ESC
Novak Ballistic 17.5 motor
Novak cooling fan (2 for motor)
Robinson Racing pinions (32-38E)
Intellect 5000 7.2V Nimh (2)
Futaba S9550 servo (0.11 sec, 83 oz/in.)
HPI stock car wheels (4 pair, black)
Team Sorex tires (4 pair/compounds)
Team Sorex tire inserts (4 pair, thin)
Spektrum electric telemetry
Spektrum standard Rx
Protoform F-MD body (Ford Fusion "Nationwide" style)

Oh, and because the question ALWAYS gets asked... If you were to purchase everything above (I didn't, I'm stealing stuff from other rigs) the total here would be around $1100 not including a Tx.

Should be sweet!

Looking good.

Sorex tires are the chit. I only use Sorex pre-mounts on white dished wheels by Speedmind.

One tip is to always wipe them down using Simple Green after every run.

Woohoo! Hopefully today will be the day it all (most of it) arrives. I won't be home so I left a note on the door for the driver to leave it. It's a signature delivery so we'll see. I had a signature delivery with FedEx a while back and the driver was nice enough to leave it since I posted a signed note with all the pertinant info. We'll see about 8:30 tonight :)

Ugh. Well, no drooling over new boxes tonight. They didn't leave it. Apparently, there are two types of signature deliveries..

1. "A signature is required on delivery"

2. "Sender requested a signature to confirm delivery"

If the shipment is #1 then you get the option to sign the little slip and the driver will leave it. However, if the shipment is #2 you're just SOL. I guess I'm driving 35 minutes to the distribution center tomorrow. Such a PITA.

Yes, my friend. It does. You pay $XX to have something shipped to you then turnaround and have to go somewhere to pick it up due to policies I didn't myself choose. I understand why the shipper does it (It's a pricey box) but damnit I wish I had a say in it. I live in a very nice neighborhood and would never be concerned about something not being there when I get home. Alas, the option is not mine. So in my car I go...

Not like I was gonna do much with it anyways besides look at parts. I did sort of want to get a jump on resizing my 51 number to the body though. Oh well. I need to work on a font anyways.

Yep, for every 15 minutes of "America's got Talent" my wife makes me watch I go off and read the instruction manual for 5. :)

WooHoo!

Got my stuff today. Man, I wish I had the powerplant for this baby. I can't wait to build it!

*edit*

Just thumbing thru the owners manual and I'm pretty impressed with it. It looks pretty detailed and even includes setup information as well as base setups for both rubber tire/asphalt and foam tire/carpet. I never really knew what the major difference was but looking at the difference in the setups it looks like the rubber setup is geared more toward attaining more mechanical grip overall. One other thing I like is the quality of the manual itself. It's pretty heavy, like a brochure actually. Quite nice.

I am looking forward to your build Josh! Git R Done!

Ask and you shall receive :) This is everything I have minus the motor/esc. I still havn't decided when I'm going to start building though. I probably won't do it on my vacation as I really want to spend that with family. If things go as I'm hoping with work I MAY find myself in St. Louis in October anyways for some training. If that's the case I'll probably take everything with me and work on it in the evenings there in the hotel.

Wipe up the drool and get busy boy! :thumbs-up:

Not quite yet. I'm gonna do some prep work for my test track setup this weekend. I'm gonna cut and knot some string sections so I can more efficiently set up the perimeters.

You should have done that while waiting for the package. Get your priorities straight. :hehe:

Oh crap, you're right. My efficiency rating is dropping by the minute.

Well, at least our builds have something in common Ralph. Neither of them may ever see nitro :)

WooHoo!

ESC/Motor is ordered! I cannot wait to build this car! I also picked up another set of sway bars because I didn't realize the pack was actually 4 different sized bars. When I ordered it I thought it was 2 pair. I guess I should have known better. At any rate, I'm ready for anything with this rig :D So long as it's stock class.
