i just started up my savage running an S-25, and all it wants to do is run wide open, no matter what settings the needles are on. i can twist the carb with out loosening it and it is as tight as i can get it. do you think i could have some kind of air leak?

this happened to my friend there is an air leak what happened is the carborater (sry bout the spelling) is stripped your'll probally have to get a new one but wait for other replies not just mine before you go out and buy one. i might be wrong

i made a vid on how to fix this ill have a look see if i can find it

ok found it but where in the vid i use super glue DON'T as at high temps it melts use something that sets rock hard and is not to affected by heat we have some stuff in the UK call jb weld but you will have to find something in the US

carb fix

EDIT
lol i just watch it and i never knew i left the sound on kids turn your speckers down as my sister has a bit of a bad mouth

ok I think that your problem is your pinch bolt. Is your pinch bolt worn or maybe just installed wrong? I recall another member had the same problem. Is it tightened? Have you sealed it with RTV? Please let us know!!!

this happened to mine as well... i called hpi about it and they said they would warrenty it.

yes it is tightened all the way. but i think it might be coming loose.

I suspect the pinch bolt for sure. Remove the carb and check the pinch bolt. The grooves for the carb neck should not have any scoring or warping. The pinch bolt grooves when in correctly should follow the groove of the opening oraface.Pics could help us out

no its not... this happened to mine too. on the carb of a s25 there is a metal sleeve that goes around it where the pinch bolt goes... this sleeve brakes away from the composite housing of the carb. allowing the carb to twist. you can tighten the pinch bolt until you are blue in the face. it will still turn.

I am talking about the crank case not the carb.

If what happened to mine happened to his. its that sleeve. it drove me up a wall. I kept thinking it was coming loose. then i took the carb out and noticed the metal sleeve. i grabbed onto it with some soft jaw pliars and sure enough it would twist around the neck of the carb. hpi said that they were hacing problems with that happeneing. and they said they would replace it.

That may be a possiblity . Good point. IF this is the problem what did HPI say about it?is it under warranty?

yes its under warrenty. evidently they knew of the problem... but are just waiting for people to contact THEM about it... kind of shady but at least they are addressing if if people contact them. my f'n crank broke the same day i called hpi about it... so i never sent it in. though i still might just too see what they will do about it.

?????? i can't believe you had a debate about it then all got to the same thing my video clearly shows i wounder why i bother

Hey Shorty, no offense, your vid is excellent. I was just trying to figure out what the problem was for sure. Great how to vid!

Jon

i dont have time to work on it for awhile(finals next week). but if it is the sleeve around the carb, would that cause it to leak and run wide open?

no but

if it is slipping when the servo returns the 0 the carb just twists and stay at WOT

Great Vid shorty!! I have the same problem with my s-25 mill and was stumped on how to fix it. that just helped me out greatly!!! thanks for taking the time to make and post up the video!!
