Proper break in method of your choice, using after run oil after a day of running, cleaning the air filter regularly, when you finish a tank put the piston at bottom dead center so the pinch stays tighter, seal the engine if it's prone to air leaks and lastly never leave any fuel in the tank for extended periods of time because it can corrode the internals. Hope this helps and I do all of these to my nitro motors.
