Harbor Freight has a special going on laser thermometers for $40, and I got 15% off as well from a flyer they sent me. So my total was $36.

I would be willing to bet that the ones from harbor freight are probably just as accurate as the ones that most people use by durtrax, ofna, the PE-1, and such as that. That's not saying they're accurate, just on plane with the rest of the field. I think the only way that you're going to get something more accurate is to spend a hundred bucks or more on an industrial temp gun that's certified to be accurate within a certain range. I bought a $180 temp gun used for $60 and I haven't had any reason to doubt its accuracy. If I would have known harbor freight had them before I ordered mine, I would have gone and got it just to use until the good one got here. Of course I discovered they had them the week AFTER I broke my truck in, isn't that just the way.

This is the pistol type and can actually scan heat. So far ot is working fine, but will only allow so much use before chilling out.

Most of the hobby shops are selling the same one for $55. This thing works great if it is accurate, very hi-tec! I even checked the water in the bath tub, and I could check the house for heat leaks too!
