Hello guys.

I have seen a commercial on TV for an Address or Name Label maker and i cannot seem to remember what company made it or what it is called. My mom owns a concrete construction company and she makes address labels and such every day for mailing. Now, if she mails stuff to the people all the time, she just makes a whole sheet of labels and uses them accordingly. If its just a once in a while thing, she just wants one label and doesn't want to go through the whole song and dance of picking a row and column. I was wondering if any of you guys know what a good label maker is. I'm assuming they plug into the computer or something. She wants to order it online, because there isnt much time in the day to go shopping... :hammer:

I'd tell her to use MS Word and buy printer friendly ones...much easier for mailing lists....or print them right on the envelopes......if she's not savvy w/ a PC I can set up a template she can use to do her mailing lists from.....it's really easy too....

She does do the printing right on the envelopes but the printer wrinkles the envelope pretty bad (like an iron, but it irons wrinkles in instead of out). She does use MS word as well, but she would rather have individual labels, instead of a whole sheet.

Avery makes some good labels/label printers. It's very simple to setup your own custom scripting via MS word or other software, you can even use windows note pad. If anything you can always call office depot or Viking Office Products and they will print them for you, all you do is give them the information.

As for the actuall label makers, several office supply stores carry small Brother Labelers, they are very simple to operate and setup. I would not recomend buying a machine from a TV ad, as you will probably be screwed if it breaks or never even shows up.

Well it was just a commercial about it, didnt have a phone number or anything... I'm pretty sure it was brand name... It was like a PS2 game commercial (similiar setup... no phone number, just advertising the product).

MyJeep: Yeah, i think that is it... I dunno, i need to discuss it more with her to find exactly what she wants...

They are good printers and yes, they are the same price as getting a new Laser printer. What she should do is look at the cost of the printer and the labels she will use in a 5 year time span to see if its something she wants to do. Its not the price of the printer that gets you, its the price of the labels. They usually run about 2X the cost of a standard 30 up Avery label.

IMO
Get a new laser printer that handles envelopes. I use the HP 1012 avalible for about 150.00 and the toner will do 2000 pages for 59.00. If she uses it just for labels it should do around 10,000 labels / envelopes per cartridge.

In Word 2005 you just highlight the name and address and click Tools>Envelopes/ Labels and your done. It will even print the return address.

2005...damn mr. I got the newest poop on the block......you sell Office 2005???
can you post a link to your store's merchandise???
