Hi there

I just bought this buggy, and started the breakin process.

Unfortunatly I've run into some troubles which I will try to describe.

1. Once started, the idling doen't go very well, the engine keeps going up and down in rpm, even though there are no throttle. After a while 5-7 minutes of idling, the engine just stops.
2. After enginestop, it's VERY hard to get the engine running again. :( I can almost only get it running by injecting fuel directly into the carburater.

To my ears it sounds like the engine isn't getting enough fuel?

And btw. the idling rpm seems kinda high. (If I lift the car from the ground while idling, the weels start spinning quite fast)

I'm new to this, any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

well is gas spewing outa the pipe ? and whats the temp... ?

also, take the air filter off, and make sure that when the brack is engaged, there is alil opening on the slide.. u may have to adjust that or turn your trim down on the throttle

this sounds familiar, i was having the same problems and had to return to the shop for them to check. they discovered that the LSN setting was incorrect. the engine would run without air filter, the assistant then turn the screw a good few turns out and the problem was solved or so i thought.

after breaking in engine and running a few times the engine the engine is fooked (loss in compression) IMO, engine has now been returned to ripmax and I'm awaiting their verdict on the engine. i think (know) it needs a new piston and liner and i believe my initial problems have contributed to the damage of the engine, but we'll have to wait and see what they say.

good news is I've had word back form ripmax and they have agreed to replace piston and liner without charge, but may take a week or so to get sorted and sent out, the guy i spoke to said the engine should last for approximately 6 months, what u guys think, if an engine is broken in probably and temps etc correct when being run how long does the average engine last before needs parts replaced?

Depends how hard and how often you run it. I've seen them last less than a couple of weeks before needing a new piston and sleeve. This is coming from a person who bashes half the day, every day. My mills last a lot longer. I get into one of my rides for a month, ride it often but not daily, and the mills seems to last for almost a year (except my TMaxx, I beat the poop out of that often!)

I've had my Sports with the GX21 for a few months now and have had no problems other then the engine losing a little low end. It could be because I was running real lean one day without realizing after putting on those big ass tires. But the engine has held up very well so far. I consistantly run WOT for long periods and the temps have only that one time hit 299.

I'm probably going to get a Hyper 8 port Race (with the pullstart if I can find a European or Asian distributoror) or the XTM 24.7 after xmas so that should be a HUGE improvement.
