Minnesota Baseball legend and my own childhood hero died today at the age of 44 due to complications from a stroke. Its weird the whole state of Minnesota is in shock. Weird how a baseball player could effect so many people. I remember fighting over the jersey #34 as a child with fellow Little leaguers. He'll definatly be missed.

44 way too young... makes you think about your own mortality..... well at least us old guys....

After hearing the news about his stroke, I hoped he would pull through.
It's a shame to see him go.
RIP

YEah its pretty sad. He had a rough life. He His dad, 2 brothers and even his mother died of heart problems. He had his stroke Sunday morning. Very sad.

That's a royal bummer. He was one of the few I used to cheer for, before all the strikes ruined baseball for me.

Ditto

I figured he would pull through my self and didn't think much about it. Then I cut on AOL a few hours ago and there it was...he passed away.

RIP KP

I've been surfing around alot and reading alot of peoples responces and memories and man I can't believe how heartless, disrespectful and just Unclassy some people are. I understand there just flamers and probably never even saw Kirby Puckett play or anything , but man... The disrepect from some people is just unbelieveable, and really REALLY pisses me off..

I did read alot of cool stories about him, and its good to see how he effected so many peoples lives here in Minnesota. He did so much for the community and was just a overall awesomely good person. He wanted to be a donor so I guess there going to see tomorrow if hes able to donate.. Thats just the guy he was.. Even after hes gone hes still helping people out..

Yeah I was in shock when I got the news. I grew up watching baseball, and although I was born an O's fan I enjoyed watching Kirby play ball. I can remember a few times going to Baltimore to watch a game and watching Kirby and my childhood hero Cal Ripken cutting up before the games. Kirby was one of the true class acts left in Baseball and will be truly missed. His untimely exit from Baseball was hard, but this is truly a tradedy. RIP Kirby.
