i was using my mower the other day and it got me thinking...Can i make a key start for my T-Maxx?? hmmm... so had anyone made it yet? and what about a remote start?? just some ideas lol:D

a remote start is certainly possible. You would just need to utilize the third channel for a servo that would simply move to complete a circuit to the EZ-start system. You would just need to have a battery on board for the starter.

its the battery that would be the only thing puttin me off!!! but would be good to do wudnt it!

I put a remote start on a Jato last winter. When I did mine there wasn't much out there for others to follow as far as instructions or help. All I had was the rc mag article that was given to me. So I tried to put a thread together that I would of found useful when I did my remote start. Here's a link to the thread with a video of it being started and some good info w/ alternate endings. Or alternate methods. It will increase the resale value of what ever rc you put it on. I had lots of offers and inquires about them from ebays after the Jato sold.

Remote Start - How I did it on mine.

You believe that was the best title I could come up with for that thread? Lame!

The small lipo is here to stay and if that sub c was holding you back. Well not anymore.

Okay, I feel sorry for the guy that left that video out there of it not starting. Here the youtube of mine starting up

Okay, I just noticed the the second video was a different setup. That two for the Jato. lol. I would of like to have found that video earlier. The way I did mine was different. Better IMO opionoin but then again all my children were beautiful fresh out of the womb too. IMO lol..

GEE what is the ESC you used on yours?? i want to do it now!!! lol and what is the componant thats got the LED attached to it?? cheers mate!

It is indeed nice but not unique and I'm not sure I would want all that extra weight with more stuff to give you troubles and go wrong.Kyosho has made a unit similar to that;-I forget which model and back in the day[1983] when I got my Stinger 4wd buggy which I still have today kickin azz in 2wd version with a Team associated .15.. they made a buggy called the Assault that had 3 or 4 ways to start it up....One was e starter, the other a aa battery holder on the front bumper with a glowplug lead to help start the car with the pullstarter and the other is the bumpbox....Good luck

Wouldn't a remote start be so nice for when it stalls and its a long ways away from you, you could just hit a button and vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm.

Check out post #28 in this original thread.

It has links to some updated electronics I found. The part with the led is the traxxas push button ez-start.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJM36&P=7

It can be bought at Tower Hobbies and once it is dismantled there really isn't much to it. Once the wires are all tucked away you can't even tell there was one installed on my jato. I thought it was worth a try and I liked the outcome a lot. I am still learning the nitro side of this hobby., My jato would sometimes die on me turning it around a couple blocks away. It was great to get it restarted from where I was standing and get it out of the middle of the road with out needing to "run" up to it. I don't run a lot anymore at my age. I would recommend a good radio setup for it. I had the Spektrum DX3R and didn't have any issues with range and starting it from blocks away. The person I sold it too was using a Trx 3ch AM radio and well that just doesn't compare when it comes to range. Plus the interference of AM radio is going to be greater escpecially with having all that tucked into compartments so close to one another. There were lots of people that put it down for one reason or another. Mainly because they really didn't take the time to read through what I did. If they would of they might have noticed there was no real extra weight added and the original wand still worked all you needed to do was move a connecter on the setup. Some of the issues originally brought up prior to when I tried it was the wieght of sub-c batteries and the size. Here's a comparison for todays choices with the deminision between the available packs being the same.

here's an exammple of weight. I just bought a 2s 7.4v 2300mah lipo to use in my Savage XL as receiver pack it is 3.25 oz

Then a 5cell Enrichpower (Trinity I thing) 1500mah nihm pack I have is 3.75oz

The price difference at the lhs, the lipo was 10.00 more then the Nihm pack.

So the lipo is 1/2 oz lighter and has lasted through 8-9 tanks and still had plenty of juice to keep going. Usually ends up at 7.0v after that many tanks. The nihm would make it about half of that before I needed to put the other nihm pack I have in.

With that said, I am only a basher and what extra weight (depending on the components used) that does come out of it may be a lot more important to other such as races. Along with the extra component being another place for something to go wrong. Is something to consider when deciding the value of any modification to your rc.

In my origianl thread at traxxas at the very beginning I stated first off, that it was not my idea or did I wanted credit for coming up with it. That stands true today. There were plenty before me. I just couldn't find any place that detailed how to do one. So I felt it would be nice to write one up for other RCers. I would of liked to have had one like that when I was doing mine. I think of these forums as a library of wealth & information. It's nice to do a search and find some detailed how 2's out there or atleast have an ending to the question.

Instead you wade through thread after thread and finally come across the thread that asks the same question as yours. Alright! Down through the post you go thinking your finally going to get the answer to what the problem is. Here is what the last posts reads.

Okay, I'll give those a try and let you know which one fixed it (if any).........
