Well for Christmas I got a brand new, in the box, original Kyosho Inferno MP 7.5 Kanai edition. Along with an OS RZV01 .21 b , Paris pipe, Proline Tires, Novak XXTra FM Synth RX, HiTec 5645mg servo and 645mg servo and a 1000mah NiMh hump pack.

Its just about done and I'm happyy happpy happpy!

This is my first 8th scale buggy!!! Now I can see what all the hype is about! My buddy at the LHS tells me this thing will do 65mph as is before tweaking it out. Hard to believe with a single speed. But I've heard similar elsewhere. can't WAIT!

Hopefully it will be done tonight and I can post some pics!

-Chris

hey get it ready ill race you in the spring i got a thunder tiger mirage v spec and i can hit 70 tuned perfect

Cool - you and I can run them in the spring! Ill probably just be getting my 'sweet spot' found on the mill. But, Ill run with it ;)

Looking forward to the spring!

alright but there crazy at those speeds believe me i lost mine a few times to loss of traction it would slid and do flips on the pavement which dings it up..

p.s. where do you usually drive in the spring?

YEP... gotta love the kanai, such a wonderful buggy. I'm running a rb concepts s7, rb pipe, Hitec digi servos throughout and the same radio setup as chris:D

omg... i dont even remember when mine was that clean. Great Job with the assembly lookin good!!! I need to get mysself one of those futabas, my xr3 is wearin out.

looks good... just try to keep it that clean its hard you know.. lol

and why the so hitech radio???? what are you a extreme rc racer guy? lol thats to much lol

oic you like hacing all those electronics on your radio? what is different than a regular radio?

Go and check out my post in the 'Radio Gear' forum.

Then follow the links and read up at Futaba's web site. You would be surprised at what this can do that a normal, standard issue, AM TX can do.

Christian,
You're gonna love the K-car. I have a 7.5 now that I have added just about all of the K2 parts to and it is awesome. I'm running a v01b with a Rex 053 pipe and it has killer low end. It absolutely launches.
Joolz,
I have a S7 sitting on my shelf right now that needs to be broken in. Any suggestions? Also, how do you think it compares to the v01b as for low, mid, and top end?

To be honest, I couldnt tell you. This is my first 8th scale buggy as well. Also, its the original Kanai edition. RZV01B and its a Rossi Pipe. I can't make out the model of it though. Its a rough finish and I 'THINK' it might be a Rex. I even took a magnifying glass to this thing. Maybe Ill try a crayon and see if I can get the wax to get caught in the etching so I can make it out.

Its brand new though.

How fast do these things go?

I can't break it in until the snow is less and/or the temps get higher. I have a hard time running anything other than my monster trucks in this cold. Stuff snaps, shock oil freezes, everything gets wet etc.. And for the money we sink into these things.......

I wish I could get more people from the Buffalo area on here. Would be cool to bash with some folks with the same rides or similar. Working on it.

Thanks for the info!

-Chris

And P.S. Razor, Good to see you back in action.

Yeah, I took a little vacation from the board. Just needed a little break.
I don't know exactly how fast your buggy will be but it will rocket out of the hole. The v01b's are not known for their top end speed, but they have excellent bottom end. Of course you can play with the gearing, pipe, etc. if top speed is what you want. Do you race? You have a racing machine, take it to the track. I have recently got in to competitve racing (not just bashing around and burning fuel) and I love it. Check out Radio Control Zone and you should be able to find some guys in the Buffalo area to hook up with.

1/8 buggies are quick enough to attract plenty of attention from small block ppl, k2 with a Collari motor or not. You might get lucky with a stock k2 & hit 70mph on a long straight strip of pavement. The gearing & suspension setup for that top speed run would suck for anything but straighline runs. I got a 2-speed, heavy diff & shock lubes, & street tires to experiment with the top speed of my Ofna Worlds I (not official ~60mph, with my Super Force P6 motor). Since an indoor 1/8 dirt track opened up 10min from my house, I mothballed the 2spd since the 1-speed works better for the track. Ask a friend who races: 1) racing is more fun 2) being fast is not about top speed, it is about how you tune & drive your car at the track (I've seen budget cars with good drivers rock k2s more than once, on & off road).

I'm with you on that, and for the record, I was mislead on this deal.

There is a sticker on the box that says 'Designed by Yugichi Kanai' (spelling??). Come to find out, its the Inferno MP 7.5 b version. Good none the less, but not what I expected. Even then, for the price, I'm not complaining AT ALL!

So back to the speed. My curiosity was just overwhelming me. Just seeing them run at the track, and the getting the mill and pipe I got, I just had to know. Being as I will have to wait another month or 2 to run it. I will not be running anything other than my monster trucks in the snow.

I also have the single speed and plan on staying with it. I will prob upgrade to the LSD's and the adjustable towers by racers edge and call it a day. Everything else on here is built exceptionally well. I'm painting the body for it now too! Proline tires as well.

Bottom line, love the performance of buggies. Watched them at the track and just drooled. The single speed DEFINATELY were better in the hole shot and could hit the tracks top speed quicker.

The only thing left to decide it which starter box to go with. Or, I may just get a new box for my XXX-NT and TC-3 because I like the beef on that one and its overkill I think for those rides.
