I just got the k3 assembled and added a ws7II, i'm only about 80% through break in on engine. I'm just wondering how fast the top end on the thing is. It gets up there faster then anything but when i had the ws7II in my ofna violator the top end was CRAZY fast. The k3 does not seem like it would come even close on top speed. I'm just concerned that i assemebled the car wrong or set the backlash in the diffs wrong or something (this is the first kit i built, but have experince wreching on others). Is this normal?

check and make sure you mesh on the motor and the spur gear is good.. but as far as top end on the motor.. may be gearing compared to the violator.. I'm not sure what the main spur gear was on the violator.. also.. this is a new WS7II?? if this is newer than the one that was in your Violator.. give it time to break in.. and after at least a gallon.. is when you will start noticing the motor coming alive..

You're comparing apples to oranges. Think of it about like this, Duratrash Axis = very low end - K-3 = very high end. K-mart buggies like the Ofna are not even in the same class as a K-3.

The engine is the same one i was breaking it in on the violator while i was building the k3.

I know there is no comparison. K3 is superior in every way. ofna is my basher, k3 futher racer. But it is much slower on the top end. i have no comperison model to compare it to, so i need to know if i assemebled it wrong or something.

p.s. how do I use quotes to show i'm answering peoples replys?

Check the number of teeth on the clutchbell and center diff for both your Ofna and K-3. If these are the same you might likely have put something together wrong, or Ofna (yet again) didn't add any fluid to the diffs.

On another note, fast is not necessarily better in racing, quick is better because you will rarely be able to keep your advantage of winding out.

The K's are tight, and the car itself needs to wear in. If you meshed everything right, it'll taake a little while for the diffs, diff inputs, etc. to get their proper running fit. Mine did the same thing. Once you run it some more, you should notice an increase in speed.

right.. when i put new diff gears in my diff.. i thought i did something wrong.. cuz they didnt feel like before.. felt alot different.. but.. after i ran it one tank on the diff.. they wore in together.. and now they are silky smooth.. and my WS7II is fast as heck in my kyosho

i know the quailty is un matched i just want to make sure i did not mess something up.

break in the motor completely.. and the car will break in as well.. once you get around 1 gallon through the motor.. and a couple tanks on the car.. you will notice a difference

Hey EP,
if ofnas are k-mart buggies (which they are), then does that mean that smartech are walmart buggies? I always thought they are recycled buggies
