Nice work!!! I am thinking of buying those shock towers. How do you like them? Whats good/bad?

They rule!....but for the price you can get this whole kit from www.hobbyshopnj.com for only $159 + shipping....I got it as a gift from a friend.

As for the shock towers, they're sweet. Tons of adjustment and very stout.

Well I had regular Ofna 9.5 shocks on there before and the bottoms kept breaking because they machined them too deep. So this time I went with actual Supermaxx Supershocks which are supposed to have a different length shaft/body combo to help prevent those issues.

So to answer your question I haven't got them on a track yet. but tonight I'm taking it out for some practice.

I did do some drop tests last night and from over 6 feet they performed great. Soft landing, No bouncing rebound, no bottoming out, they just planted.

Although my regular 9.5's did the same. However if I landed on one wheel only, the original shocks bottomed out and broke the bottom of the cylinders....

But I'll beat it up tonight and possibly get some video. :marshall:
I might even stop by the local BMX track on the way to the R/C track :ahh:

I am highly interested in this issue.
I went bashing with Humboldt last-night an was highly impressed with the performance of the buggy shocks he uses.
Please keep us informed.

Sweeeeet ..

Aren't those Shock towers Knuckleheads? If they are (Thought RacerX only came with Knuckleheads ..), IMO they're the best for racing for the ammount of adjustments capable of on there, and a pair of Knuckleheads is like $70 bucks at Stormer.

I'm thinking of making that same Maxx, but with RacerX. Is there a reason you mounted the shocks in the inside of the a-arms?

And I would recommend some aluminum chassis braces. (Robin aka SuperMaxx creator) made a LiteRace (2.5 Maxx, RacerX) and he was stripping spur gears from chassis flex .. :breakdown

Yeah they are Knuckleheads. A friend of mine ordered the EXT then went to the Racer X kit and all the alluminum you see on my truck was given to me by him.

Hobbyshop NJ is the cheapest for UE parts

I'll have to take some pics of his truck some time soon. He's got a full UE truck with 7.5 diffs and all!

I've only been replacing things as they break. I'm still on my stock spur too.

As to the shock mounting, I just followed the Instructions that came with the Supermaxx Supershox kit. It shows the single shock setup with them on the inside.

The shocks did great. The truck never bottomed out once and smoothed out the choppy stuff. The jump in the videos has a 5 foot face and a 20 foot gap peak to peak and I'm getting about 5 foot of air off the top....so thats about 10 foot verticle and 20-25 feet lateral.

I'm guessing all went well with no broken parts? Looks like it was pretty windy, lol.

For some reason those SM arms really set that maxx off. I really like. Great work. how well does it steer with the RPM monster claws on there, are those the stable maxx rims???

yeah no broken parts except after the BMX track I went to the RC track and stripped a hub in one of my wheels. So I'll have to boil it tonight and get the tire off.

Thanks, I like the SM stuff too. Fit and finish on all the UE stuff I've seen is just awesome!

Yes my wheels are RPM Monster Claw Stable Maxxes.

they steer pretty good actually. I can control my drifts much easier, and I'm usually on full throttle midway through most tight turns.

I will say this, I'm damn tired of my 2.5. After 1 rebuild already and its already getting soft...... I'm probably going to pick up a Pico .26 tomorrow. I've only had this thing since february. I just wish Traxxas offered a Racer Kit or one that is Big Block ready. Cause when I do this .26 its probably going to destroy any plastic drive train part I have. :\

What air filter is that? And instead of the .26, have you thought of getting a Sirio .18? The .26 is just going to cause havoc on that truck.

People say that no one has the Sirio .18 in stock....haha go look at EBay. There are tons of them on there, some for $185 Buy-It-Now. I paid $199 for mine at the hobby store here in Charlotte.

the air filter is a Motor Saver with an HPI pre-filter. I bought the HPI first but didn't like the 90degree bend. then I found the motor saver at a local hobby shop and picked it up....

As for Motors, I bought the Picco .26. I broke it in on friday and raced it yesterday. No failures due to the enine though....

I did blow out a front wheel bearing which caused me to lose the wheel nut and whaaa-la, no front tire and I gave up a 2 lap lead just to end up DNF'ing in the main :(

I plan on going with full metal gearing everywhere here pretty soon. Including UE 7.5 diffs.

Thanks .. You should look at OTB Tech gears. TunaMaxx has a vid. of his SuperMaxx with RB Concepts S7 using an OTB Tech Infinity FOC gear suuuuper low, pulling a Chevy S10. The IFOC allows you to change gearing without messing with your spur and stuff.

yeah, thats the same tranny in my future but, I'm not gearing a 65:1. I'll keep my 30's:1 for racing  I figure that tranny UE 7.5 diffs and I'll be pretty much done.....well after steel spur and double disk slipper.

hey red rado, where you from in jersey, I'm in Metuchen, about 30 min ffrom aberdeen, didnt know they had a hobby store there. let me know where your at, get together and race.
