Just picked up a used Savage 25...

and I went to do some paint work on the wheels and I can't get two of them off. I can't break the nut and they just spin as though they are stripped? Any ideas on what is the best method of removing these wheels?

Are you sure you are turning them the right way? One side of the truck has reversed threads.

To tighten them turn them to the front of the truck, to loosen them turn them to the rear of the truck.

The silver nuts are left hand thread, turn clockwise to loosen....

Thanks guys. I got three off but when I tried to get the last one off the other axles just spin. Any tips???

just put the hexes an tires on so you can hold them.. or grab the axle with some plyers

aye, put the hexes on the other top wheel and put the tyre on it, something bigger you can hold on to!

You might want to think about dying them rather than painting. The paint will scrath and chip off, but the dye will last forever.

Can I dye the chrome wheels? I never thought about that.

Strip the chrome off first. It is very easy, you just use original easy off oven cleaner. Just spray the rims with easy off, let them sit a while, and the chrome will just wash right off effortlessly.

Yep, black is easy, just leave it in for a long time or else it will look purplish.
