RC Driving Style
hello all, my name is matt and i just got a revo 3.3 slightly used its an o8 model ( at least i think) i have done lots of searching and cannot find an answer to my problem............ when i go to start my revo it starts but it goes full throttle and wants to take off ( luckly it was still in my hand and caught it) i did set the throttle trim........ the only thing is, i guess the remote got banged around and i had to change the crystal/chip in the remote, but i only changed the one in the remote and i got the chip from my old t-max remote....... so my question is do the chips come in matched pairs even though the chips are the same frequency27.195 green label..... the wierd part is everything works fine the steering, throttle, brakes, reverse servo just when i go to start is it goes full throttle and dies out..... what should i do? i just got it and i havent even got to play with it yet it driving me insane!!!!!!!!!! any comments and suggestions will be a great help thanks in advance...................Matt............

I would think the frequency would be fine. Take a look at the carburetor with air filter off. With the transmitter and electronics on, make sure the carb slide isn't staying open. If it is, I would double check the throttle return spring, the idle gap, make sure the servo is returning to "home" position when you turn it off. Does it still have the opti-drive unit?

Have you tried to adjust the Idle Speed because when I first got mine thats what happened I don't know why just try it.

yes it still has the opti drive unit.... under further investigation it appeard to be that the chanel 2 on the radio was in the wrong position so it fixed that problem........... but now i was do some more research and it looks like it will need a clutch spring/shoe combo and the motor has to come off not a big deal anyone done one of those yet? about how long does it take? the wheels spin when i start it and it wont stay running..... thats what i gatherd from my research......am i right?

A new clutch and spring?, piece of cake to fix. You can replace it with a stock Traxxas clutch....that I don't recommend. The stock springs on the shoes are junk to be honest. IMO you don't need anything more than a 2 shoe clutch either. I have one of these in my Revo and have good results, they're inexpensive and easy to install. Here's a link....check with your local hobby store, you may be able to get it for the same price comparatively after shipping.

thank you i will be goin to the hobby store after work. does the 2 clutch system allow you to pull good wheelies? (I'm sure its more than enough)................. but can all this be done with simple tools cause if so its no problem...... and then the wheels should stop spinning when i try to start it? cause it wont stay running right now.... I'm assuming because the clutch is engaged causing it not to idle....

Sounds like the culprit. It may still idle but give you the sense it's running too lean and make you chase the tune. Even the stock clutch has 2 shoes, it's just not the best quality out there. You'll get it figured out, it's easy to replace.
