Can anyone tell me the signs of a blown motor. My revo will not start for nothing. Brand new glow plug, truck is fully charged, EZ start batts are fully charged. I've even tried a glow plug igniter. it seems like it lost some compression. it sounds like its trying to run but as soon as i let off, nothing. the motor and exhaust feels warm to touch. but still no luck. the way my luck has been running, it wouldnt surprise me that it is shot. I'm somewhere in the 3 gallon area. I just replaced my rear diffs yesterday and didnt even get to run it. Dammit This sux..... one more thing. the proline steering i got for my t-maxx wont work either. so wouldnt you know it, nice weekend to play and nope not me... no luck here...lol sorry for going on and on but dang.. someone send me some good luck...lol :horsecrap

OK first what temp have you been running your engine.
now try to turn the flywheel with you finger, it should be hard to turn and when you do turn it over you should hear/feel a thunk/pop sound if you can't then you have a blown motor.
Try a rebuild on the engine.
And one more thing have you taken apart the motor lately

my temps have been in between 235 to 260. its hard to turn the flywheel with my finger. yeah theres a tump sound from the exhaust. I've not taken the engine apart yet. you think maybe it needs a new piston and sleeve? i guess i could rebuild this one use it for a spare. what other motors work well in the revo?

i did notice all the power i was getting before all this happened. being in stock form from time to time it would start to pull wheelies. only thing i did was adjust the hsn for the cold or warm days.

It doesn't' sound blown to me. It sounds like your settings are off a bit. A few things to check

1. Make sure your getting fuel to the carb
2. Your glow plug is new and your ignitor is charged
3. Set your carb to factory settings and try again.

If you have compression your engine is not blown. Try these few things and let us know.

Your engine is fine it is not blown.
Try fresh fuel the factory settings
HSN 4 turns out from closed
LSN flush with inner collar
Idle should be a 1-1.5 mm gap when you look in to the carb throat when the breakes are applied.
When engines are new they have a tight fit, When you break in the engine it will loosen a bit and the piston will wear down the so will the sleeve. My TRX has gone through 7 gall of fuel before it wore out.

still no luck, I've tried everything i could think of. this may sound weird, while trying to start it, it sounds like its running but its not. it has a different sound out of the exhaust as you would normally hear while starting it. its hard to describe the sound. I'm still thinking that it could be just the piston and sleeve are wore. it has compression but jus dont sound like enuf to start. well i appreciate all the help, i guess I'm just gonna have to take it apart and see whats going on. if all else fails ill just get another motor.

Try taking out your one way bearing and checking that out. If that bearing is seized it wouldn't let the engine start. The starter would still be able to spin the engine but the engine would be trying to start spinning the starter gears back when it starts so that puts so much more stress on it. I think that's your problem. They sell those bearings for about $20 a pop.
