Woops...I ran the Revo with out an air filter for about 1/4 tank :microwave it wont start anymore. I would turn the engine by hand and heard a grinding noise.

I took the engine all apart and cleaned it all out :hammer: . Now when the temps hit around 210F it stops and wont start again until it cools down. Is the engine blown? it seems that i have lost some compression, the engine turns easier by hand now. I need some help? I sprayed the engine with WD-40 to test for leaks but no luck (the engine did not speed up). Any thoughts?

if you can turn the engine over by hand and it is easy to do with no thunk/pop sound then it is blown. dirt can ruin and engine in a matter on minutes

it is probly worn then. Do you have a LHS that has people in it you trust how could look at it.

Sorry to hear it man...I hope I am wrong but it is likely dirt got in the motor and took a chunk out of the piston that is my guess.

thats happened to me once man, i was running my old ofna ob-4 in a dusty dirty parking lot one day doing doughnuts and powerslides and drifting for fun and i hit a small pothole or something and my airfilter fell off and the car flipped into the air. no damage to the chassis, but i was driving the car without an air filter for about 10 minutes. and then when the car ran out of gas i ran to get it and took the body off and the air filter just kind of rolled out. it was sittting on top of the gas tank leaning on the body. and then i let the motor cool and tryed to start it again hoping it would start. it never started. so i took the motor apart later that day when i got home and found a lot of scratches up and down the piston and sleeve. and my connecting rod was very scratched. i had to buy a whole new motor. i was so pissed.

Hey thanks everyone... it seems that yes, my engine is blown.. so time for a new one. Thinking about a O.S. 0.18? or stock 2.5R again... man the OS is 120% more money $220 vs. $100..ouch!

I think, the TRX2.5R is very good engine. If not enouh free money, let buy TRX.
Is good idea to try buy only new sleeve and piston? It can be very cheap way to get second chance. Crank shaft is scratched? Wahat about enine bearings? Are they damaged? If not, maybe you can go by wey piston/sleeve.
But I havbe not much practice. Understand me as laik.

hey byps ..
havent seen you around here before ...i think if dirt got into the engine i would buy another engine expessialy if its like a $100 engine piston sleeve con rod will probily about match the $100 & you dont know if the crank shaft or bearings got any wear

and your english is pretty good i can understand everything your saying ..your doing a lot better than if i tried writing in russian :)

cool man.. yep retarderd pilot (damm thats a funny name, man every time is see your post I have to laugh at that cow), I am checking ebay right now as I type for a new 2.5R, I just can't justify the cost - ebay $80 new 2.5R.. I would have to buy three 2.5 R engines for the cost of one OS. 0.18 engine, the 2.5R it is!... Thanks again.

To retarded pilot: I am glad that you can understad my, because english is not my primary language :o)
I am not sure that new engine is so cheep as you wrote. Look Tower Hobbies for example at Piston/Sleeve. Cost is around 60 USD.
List of parts here:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p?&I=TRAG5210&P=X

I can not found f=price for whole TRX 25 R without any starter (recoil or EZ).
But i am sure taht price never will be around 100 USD. If yes, please give me link :o)
Diference between TRX25 and TRX25R is very big and in the price too.

I agree that new engine is better that repaired. I never seen damaged engine by dirt.

Nice price. Engine look like original factory trx2.5r.
I can not found the engine by 100 usd at Tower Hobbies. Only trx2.5
Americans are seldom sending outside USA and if yes, very often we have to pay VAT here. Co the price $135 can be for me aroud $190 (shipping via ait over ocean, vats, ...).

You are rights. Most of rc parts I am buying from internet shops. Only small items like conectors, wires, glues I am buying here in my country. Mosnters are very small comunity here, but newbies are comming.
99% of my needs I have to buy outside. Often Tower Hobbies, but there is very expensive shipping. Sometimes hong kong (3 racing, hot racing) and rc models (electronics - super prices). From honk kong I have not to pay VAT.
From USA i have to pay 19% VAT and sometiese more, 30% but still it is very good.
So, our comunity are wainting, collecting spare parts needs and when we can save money on Tower hobbies (now $25 off) then we do order. It is compicated, but better than buyin from EU countries here in Europe. That's all.
Look, this is my new body on my pages:

Click last link "XCiter" on the white page, there it is.
