Hey, I just got a Tmaxx 2.5 in a trade from a electric xtm. The Tmaxx is in very good condition and has some modifiactions done to it. I got a good deal doing this trade. But anyways, The truck runs i drove it around then later that day I try to start it but it would not start up. I also put the needles on the carb back to factory settings later that day also once i notice it wouldnt start.

I am wondering why it wont start. The glowplug light on my ez-starter is not on. I am thinking that it is my battery for the ez-starter that is not charged up good enough to get the motor turning. But when i was riding it in the dirt i did have the body off because i have a roll-cage and i did not wont to mess the body up.

Well if the light on your wand is NOT on then its a faulty glow plug...
Replace the glow plug and charge the wand battery...

I found that using a seperate glow ignitor saves the wand battery HEAPS...
Alot of battery energy goes into heating the plug...

Also you said you were running in the dirt... So make sure you got a clean air filter :)

Goodluck... Let us know how you go :)

Yeah it was my glow plug :) I changed the glow plug and it started right up : D
Now i just got to tune it.

What is the best way to tune it up? And also what is the best way to keep the glow plugs to make them last longer

I beleive the only way to make them last longer is to have a good tune...
Which may take some patience...
I wld advise to keep at least 6 spare plugs on hand...

Try here for a great tune chart...
The biggest tip i have on tuning is hace Patience... Dont loose heart to quick..
And i also suggest to seal your TRX engine.. ^^same link as above^^

Thanks for the great reply!
I might seal my engine..
but i was reading about tuning. Should i adjust the LSN first? I am also wondering if it is sluggish should i lean it out alittle big. And fix the HSN till i see smoke coming out the pipe

Always tune your HSN...
If you have already set to factory settings then turn HSN 1/16 turns clockwise till u see no more performance...

Then do the same with the LSN... I find while I'm tuning the LSN i need to fiddle a bit with the idle screw....

But again if you follow that chart you can't really go to far wrong...

And if you seal your engine it will save ALOT of trouble and problem solving in the long run

Alright I will work with the HSN first. I was fiddling with it and i notice that my truck wont even go really now. So i think i need to fiddle with the LSN and idle now..

But i am going to seal my engine to save me problems later on :)

i'm 2 gallons into my 3.3 tmaxx and at times was VERY frustrated learning to tune. be patient and dont get discouraged. also at first i did not seal my engine and found it would not hold tuning day to day. once sealed it was loads easier to tune and I was now also able to "predict" any tuning neccessary based on weather and enviroment so definately seal the engine its worth the time!

Yeah i wont get frustrated. I'm going to just take my time.. Thats how tuning is, it takes time :)

I am wondering if i can use 98H to seal my motor. It gasket sealant they use on car motors.

Should work fine then. I know that the copper rtv that most people use stays pliable. I don't think you want to use anything that dries hard.

+10million on sealing the motor lol I had tuning issues with mine and thought it was cuz its my first nitro and I was a noob turns out head and backplate were leaking sealed it with copper rtv and I've gotten almost six gallons now on a used 2.5 mill I got on craigslist but its going out now so time to rebuild or upgrade for me
