I got my savage today and i was wondering what the first neccesary thing is to do. i installed a battery pack alrdy and wanted to see if there is something that i can do to make it perform better. Also was wondering if i need to cut the antenia wire(really really long) i think it is like 36 inch.

They say to not cut it. What I did was pulled out what I needed, and then stuffed the rest under the reciever cover. Ehh, and besides break in being the first thing, get a fuel filter and air filter if possible but definately the fuel filter. Also, I saw somewhere that there could possibly be plastic shavings in some of the tanks so swish something around in there just to make sure.

Swish some fuel in the tank and make sure there are no plastic shavings.

Fuel filter must

Failsafe & Hump pack if possible

Wear a leather glove

DO NOT CUT THE ANTENNA!

The antenna is cut to length for a certain frequency. If you cut it, you will no longer have a functional receiver on the frequency that is labeled on it. Either wrap the extra antenna around the antenna tube and zip tie the end in place or let it hang free from the end of the antenna tube, but do not cut it. You can do as cwc2k1 suggested also, but that will limit the range of reception.
