and, when trying to take my wheels off, the side with the black bolts comes off nice and easy, the one with the silver ones doesn't even move.
how come each side has different colours anyway?

the ones with the white bolts are threaded differently. you have to loosen it by turning it to the left. and the black bolts are normal. loosen them by turning to the right. its like that so when you go, the tires wont come off or somethin like that. hope you have fun with your new savage.

EDIT: when you turn the silver bolts right, your just making them tighter. remember to turn them left.

Yes that's how they are made, and that's correct. They are threaded so that it follows the forward motion of your truck and therefore keep the bolts tight when you run. That is why it is also color coded so that you can easily remember what goes in which direction, one sides is dark the other silver.

following forward motion now that makes sense, never really thought about it that way. Hmm well if that is the design than why on earth to those things strip wheel hex hubs like no other.

It's just the plastic in the stock rims. The plastic leaves a little to be desired in terms of durability.
