RC Driving Style
Hi guys, this is my 1st post.
Just got my RS4 3 evo, its pretty nice. Ran it for almost 2 weeks now. The like doing donuts with it , and now the rear tires are all bald lol, it also kinda came off the rim too, so i guess i need some tire glue, but the stock tires that it came with has bad tracktion. I think ill be getting some foam tires. I just Ordered a RDLogics tuned pipe and still waiting for it to come. I notice it looses control at high speeds, it will do 180s.

The fucktard at hobby town suggested the Duratrax GOLD glow plugs. the heat range is cold, i already bought it, should i use it?

I'm having trouble tuning the car, like the carb needle and lean/rich adjustments. I dont know if its too lean or too rich.

I probably need stiffer springs/shocks. With all the types i dont know which ones, can someone give me a recommendation?

will post pics later..
thanks

I already broke the 10 degree C looking thing near the wheels on the front right. so i replaced it with the 8 degree one that it came with. I dont really see a difference between 10 degree and 8 degree.

It's loosing control at high speeds because the rear tires are probably gooved and worthless. Don't get foams, you'll just burn them up and you don't need them anyways. The tires AC48 linked are good, but I'd get those in the M compound. The Pro compounds are softer, the Ms are the harder. I still have M compounds on my car, they've last a while.

When you put the 8 degree C hubs on, you're playing with caster. Less caster means quicker steering, but they'll be a little less stabile at speeds because the wheels don't track straight as good. The 10 degree hubs will keep the car straighter at high speeds. You should probably get some new ones.

Can someone recommend me a set of good springs, i see so many types and dont even know which ones will fit.
Thanks :help:

oops, i meant to link to the M compound:whistle: Those are the ones I have and they have last a very long time. I would try looking at the option parts section on the HPI web site. They many different kinds of springs that'll fit.

First off, your original post about tuning the car.. you need to get a temperature gauge so you can tune the car more accurately. They're $30.

HPI has a spring chart PDF on their site, but the link is dead for some reason. I have the chart saved on my computer though and I'm nice enough to give you a link off my personal website...

HPI Spring Chart

Any progressive rate 29mm touring car spring will work. I'd probably get some blues or greens. You might want to try 4 blues or blues up front and greens in the rear. They're cheap so you could get a few sets and have enough to experiment and find the combination that works for your driving style.

I thought foams lasted longer than rubber.

Well, he said he burned up the stock tires doing donuts so it sounds like he's just having fun in parking lots and stuff. Foams will "chunk" on rough concrete. My buddy got some for the street, for some reason, and they got all tore up and they just didn't last too long. Also, they don't grip too well in dirty/dusty conditions. For bashing, some hard rubber tires are the best.

I'm waiting on my hobby shop to get some Medial Pros in. I read that the Medial Pros are the best bashing tires out there because they last forever. They're foamless rubber tires that come in soft, intermediate, medium and firm. Instead of foam inserts, the inside of the tire is molded in a honey comb design that provides the cushioning while still being stiff. My buddy got some used ones, no idea if they're firms or what, but they have shown hardly any wear so far.

I can't say how long they last because we haven't seen how long his have lasted. But, they look like they will outlast even the M compounds. They are $20 for a pair of preglued tires on white mesh wheels...

Since your runnin rubber tires on ur car Id personally recommend using the softest spring u can get on the rear (copper) and going SIlver or Golds from that chart up front. or ull be spending ur time going sideways into curbs. Itll give u better stability in the corners. If u do decided to go foam its the opposite ud have to test out how hard ur springs should be

Foams are meant for high traction race tracks and they will not last long on rougher surfaces. Rubbers will work good everywhere except not as good as foams on tracks.

I guess it depends on the surface they're running on. Concrete, especially with a lot of aggregate showing through, will tear them up pretty good from what I've seen. Rocks and debris will take chunks out of them too. I'm still going with rubber for the street and parking lots.

If you run on smooth streets you should be fine, but if you hit any pebbles and stuff it will take chunks out of them like KillerWabbit said.

And I've noticed also rubbers work better on cold surfaces. I run foam in the summer cuz the foam just dont seem to hook up coming in the late fall. But rubbers in late fall kick arse.

Can I get a link to teh Medial Pros from someone in the US? OFNA has 1/8 buggy ones on tower but that's it. :) Thanks
I just got into On-Road cars and I'm having a blast. :D

Just get the hardest compound foams and you'll be fine. Foams have SOOO much more grip than rubber.

I would have to recommend an adjustable set of turnbuckels and tie-rods, They will aid in the top speed handleing, some softer inserts for the tires help alot too.
