Hi all,

For a long time I have been collecting 1:18 scale Diecast Models of various sports and super cars. I have always wished that I could drive one that is this small, so, I ordered up a Duratrax MicroStreet Force RTR.

I must say the value is great. The entire car RTR cost me 80$. Although some of the parts, like the shocks, kind of suck it still gives decent performance. Its well beyond what I thought it could do. (It also comes with 8 AAs for the Tx)

Well, I opened her up this afternoon and just couldn't wait for the battery to charge so I snagged the supplied 4-AA holder and tried her out. (Antenna still flopping around on the ground, no body, etc...) I was pretty impressed with just the 4-AAs. If you do it just right you can get the tires spinning on hardwood floor. The AAs last a ling time. I used it for like maybe 40 minutes and after that they started to wear out. A few things I noticed were the ESC wasn't working quite right with AAs, it was kind of glitchy. All of this was fixed when the battery charged.

I pluged in the supplied 6-Cell 600 mah NiCd battery and was ready to go. During the charging I had also decaled it, set up the antena etc... With this battery on hardwood floor doughnuts are easy with a pull of the trigger. The torque on this thing is incredible (I'm a Nitro guy). Although it burns out nicely, it doesn't have great traction on hardwood floor lol.

I find the best place to drive it indoors is on a nice hard carpet. It needs to be the indoor/outdoor type carpet or it doesn't do so well. On this carpet the traction was awsome. I could fly around shoes, chairs, or anything else I wanted at full throttel with no loss of control.

Its a real blast to drive, most definetely worth 80$. There is nothing else you need to buy, it coems with 8 AAs, Tx, ESC, charger, Rx, everything...its awsome. :D

got mine (actually 3 of them) too.. no problems or complaints w/ any of them. I had to re-center the steering servo on one of them, but that was it. Good run time and more than enough for just bashing around the basement w/ the kids!

AC48 - the ESC might need to be re-calibrated when switching between the battery types... just a thought. I found the operating instructions out on DuraTrax's website. Looks to be a fairly easy and quick thing to do.. I haven't tried running mine on the AA's yet, so I'm just tossing ideas out there.

Yeah probably, I just ran it for a little while with the AAs and have now started to use the 7.2 volter and thats much better. I won't use AAs anymore lol.

Fasteddy: Heres a gallery of them: http://duratrax.com/cars/dtxd10c.html If you want pics of any specific area I can try and get some for ya :D.

In the gallery there seems to be a few different setups.
One with the ESC in the front and one with tit in the back.
How does it come stick?

I see they used a full sized servo. A micro would seem in order. Can it be easily changed?

Mine came stock with the ESC in the back and the Rx in the middle ontop of the battery. They are held on with double sided tape so they can be moved if you want.

Yeah, it came with a standard size servo, which is also just held on by double sided tape so I think it would be pretty easy to change to a micro.

Congrats on your rides gentlemen. I backed out on my purchase of one at my LHS because of the deal I had my Micro RS4. Now after one night of running my ESC burned up and I'm waiting two weeks for a new one to arrive. I would also leave the standard servo in to keep some weight upfront to prevent any understeer, especially if your just bashing. Good luck on your purchase.

Scott.

same here... ESC's in the back, and RX's stuck on top of the battery hatch. Anyone happen to know off hand, if the differential tension can be adjusted?

I dunno about the diffs...

but I actually broke it :D Well sort of, I cliped a post at almost full speed with the left front wheel and took it right off. Luckily all that happened was the screw that holds on the wheel is very short so it just ripped out. Replaced it with a longer screw and was good to go :D

Oh, and ss burns, how loose is your belt? Mine was tighter but now it is loos enough that it slides on the chassis and I can touch it together in the middle. Is yours this loose?

wouldn't surprise me that they designed that to strip like that.. save some serious damage..

Belts on mine loosened up a bit, but I might not have run mine as hard yet.. Wonder if there's a belt tensioner out there for them?

I saw your other post about the motor... is that a stock wound? Got to be careful not to cook the ESC..doesn't look like it would take too much

It depends on the carpet, if its long and shagy it'll get stuck, but if its harder and shorter carpet it does perfectly fine.
