I ditched my Rs4 3 evo, and got a Savage 25, with an Extra motor and some parts!...
BUT, there's a problem, I used different fuel than it was first used with, and it's harder to start! The guy I got it from left some yellow HPI fuel in the tank, and when I used it up, I used my blue traxxas power fuel instead. Why is it harder to start and how can I fix that? Retune it?
The savage is barely used (only on it's 9th tank) and it looks like new so it can't have engine problems already.
By the way, what do you think of my deal?

Traxxas is Top Fuel but yeah, some retuning will be needed to run it. Possibly a hotter plug too depending on what it has in it. I used a McCoy MC59 back when I still used Traxxas fuel.

HPI fuel is purple, not yellow, so not sure what he had in there...

I've used HPI, Byron, and now I'm using Trinity Monster fuel. All 20-percent, the Savy needed very little tuning. Some fuels thoug are so different that you almost need to break the engine in again on the new fuel, letting it idle rich for a tank, etc.

I hear Traxxas fuel works great in Traxxas vehicles, but maybe not so much in others?

BTW, I KEPT my RS4 Evo AND got the Savage. I don't use the on-road as much, but being a car guy I love painting lids for it and I run it every now and then up the street. Same fuel used in both...

HTH...

Ok, I still have a new traxxas glow plug, so I'll use that and I'll let it run on idle for a tank or so. Should I make it more lean or rich than it was with the other fuel?

Traxxas fuel is so oily, it can trick you into over-leaning the tune. Mustang man is right on; traxxas fuel works best in traxxas engines. They have less mechanical pinch than most other engines, so the fuel has more oil content to make up the difference. A little bit of tuning should be all you have to do to compensate for different fuels. Raising your idle a hair may help with starting. I'd take racers advice too and run a hotter plug. This will help over come the oil spill.:)

Thanks for the help, I'll reply if I have further problems,
Also I got an aluminum pipe included with it, and he said that I have to retune it to install the pipe, is thet true??

Yep. Different pipes require different tunes. Not by much though. Usually just small hsn adjustments, to compensate for the different pressure that gets delivered to the tank. If a pipe is freer-flowing, it won't send as much pressure to the tank, which means less fuel to the carb. So if you swap pipes, fire the engine up, let it get warm, and see how it runs. Adjust from there in small increments.
