Ok guys I just bought me a Platinum today. i am waiting for all my batteries to charge before I can fire it up.
I got the Platinum brand new.
RD logics bump box.
2 Ni-cd batts for the bump box
A rechargeable glow ignitor
A spektrum DX 2.0

All for 675. Everything brand spankin new!!!!

What should I do to it first? From what i can tell by doing a radio check the steering is 10 times stronger and faster than my 5308 revo 3.3.

Here are a couple pics. Its already dirty. The body that is on it now will be the basher body.

congrats!!!! I dono the first thing I would do is brake it in hahahahahah ok that was lame!! what kinda servo does it us is it a 2070? trade ya 4 my 5308? its all hopped up trinity, wing hahahahah

i am running a platinum. i have went to single servo steering and made a custom throttle servo horn. makes adjusting the brakes a ton easier and i also did the slayden steering mod. everything else is pretty much stock from the box.

are your brakes not locking down or having an issue getting them set?

pretty much. I have them tightened all the way down and they dont work that great. My 5308 revo has better brakes and it only has the 1 brake whereas my platinum has front and rear brake.

i know with mine the epa didn't matter...the fronts would lock down tighter then fort knox on mine but the back would not do jack....so i created something with advice from steve slayden...and here is what i got....give you full travel both ways....

but since doing this the stocker servo has died and been replaced with an airtronics 359. good analog servo with digital speed and torque

I took this thing to the track today and was actually amazed at how it handled. i was hitting and clearing most of the big jumps that the buggies and truggies were clearing. I put in about 20 laps or so before the clutch shoes exploded.

It is actually a very good handling truck. I was shocked.

i had the same issues with my clutch shoes also. but hey they were cheap so i just keep spares and replace them. BUT on another note. after about 1 gallon on the motor you do want to look into either replacing the engine bearings. i have had them to go out on me several times. i did some research and talked to alot of drivers/racers and they told me that if the motor gets to blowing alot of glow plugs and won't tune out then it is a warning sign that the rear bearing is going or gone.

out of the box the truck handles excellent. i am still running my suspension system at stock settings. traxxas did a good job taking input from all the drivers and using it in setting up the platinum.

yeah it handles quite nicely. i was surprised actually. my last 5308 revo was a tank going around the track and it would hit the big jumps like this one will.
But I am now selling the PE. I have got to get me a Baja 5T!!!!
