 so i just finished my first nitro r/c car which happens to be an rs4 3 18ss. I did some final tuning and ran it a few times and then the recoil spring snapped and i gotta wait until the 29th to get an electric starter. I've got a ths tuned pipe, high performance filter, racing clutch, v-groove super radials with highperformance foam inserts and chrome 10spoke rims on it.

The stock pull start on the 18ss is very stout. The string is thicker and stronger than the string on all of my big blocks. If you broke the pull start then you should be using a different method to start the motor. You are probably flooding it. Do not pull if you feel resistance.

lol o well I've got the electric starter comein in today dude i didnt break the string, i honestly think the recoil spring came broken cuz like the first few times i pulled it it was sticking and i hadda move the flywheel to make the piston move so it would coil back up and it just got worst and the coil ended upcracking and it wouldnt wind back up....

Hi,

Yeah, those NitroStar P/S are pretty easy to break (not the greatest spring quality IMO). OS pullstarts, on the other hand, are realllllly durable. It's worth it to shell out the extra couple of bucks for one that actually works all the time. Anywhoo, congrats and have fun

I've never had a problem with HPI Small block pullstarters. If you just don't pull it too far and don't pull when its flooded they never break. The S-25 ps on the other hand I broke like 30 times haha.
