hi pels iv got three motors two are brand new and one isent and the one that isent brand new I've been trying to tune I've got a new glow plug I've checked the the fuel is going to the top of the piston I've cleaned the carb fuel is going in fine the glow igniter is fine but it still wont start its a hong nor 28. nitro engine can some one help :whhooo::whhooo::whhooo:
 
how would i cheek for air leeks thats one problem and the other one is i don't no the factory settings unless u would no were to find them :\:\:\:\:\
 
If you have 2 new engines you can find the factory needle setting by using one of those. Just carefully count the number of turns it takes to LIGHTLY bottom out the needles on the new engine, then lightly bottom the one you are tuning and back them out the number of turns you counted.

You should be able to get some firing even if the tune is way off. You are getting fuel? Your ignitor is charged/good battery? Glow plug glows? You have good compression? Use your radio trim and open the carb a bit, you should be able to get something out of it.
 
Wow, that thread was almost 4 year old, back in the day when I almost lived at the local track, before it folded due to owner neglect.

It sounded like I was at my wits end with that one. I still haven't met a 2.5 I didn't like.
 
ill try that and see if it works if not ill blow it up and see if that works if not ill rap it up in bubble rap

It sure seems to be an air leak. They're the cause with no cure.
When you seal the back plate, clean it well with alcohol, and don't tighten it down all the way on the fresh silicone, but screw it flat all the way around and about a few sheets of paper thick between the back plate and the block.
Put it away and let it sit for 24 hours, till it's totally cured and then screw it down tight. That way you'll actually have created a gasket, rather than just squish it all out when it's fresh.
 
i all ways do that with my engines ill get it going good its all about bit of fiddling:\:\:\:\:\

Sorry to jump in on this thread... But you have just shown me a way to seal a leaking gasket, no matter how much I screwed down the manifold I still got a leak... Now I am going to try your little tip with the silicone...

Good to hear that hopper2, and yes, it works for the 1:1s also.

its all about bit of fiddling:::::

It's not about fiddling. It's about knowing what each needle does, why it does it, and what else is wrong when it won't do what it's supposed to. You can fiddle for days or you can just do what needs to be done and go enjoy it.
 
i know what each needle dose but with engine theres alot of fiddling because every time i get it right its fine after a few mins but then something alls gose wrong and u think its the carb and u adjust it again but its not just the carb it could be an air leek some dirt in the engine glow plug the sleeve is worn out staff like that so its never ending fiddling around with this engine but at the same time your learning staff but ill get it going ill post a new thread when i do and tell u what i done to get it going properly again ;););)
