Finally, after working on it for 2 weeks, off and on, it's finally done. My Savage SS 4.6
I added a couple things during the build:
Venom VST Failsafe
Ball bearing steering
Associated Monster GT tires and wheels (love the Centerline wheel look, and the V-groove tires versus the stock Dirt Bonz)
A roll cage is on order.

Thanks. That was my brother's first attempt at a "fade" type paint job, and the first time with an airbrush. It has a lot of little "mistakes" in it, but for a basher body, it will do! I tried to break it in today on our street, but the noise was too much, and since I could only go back and forth, it never got over 150 degrees. Will be searching for a parking lot tomorrow!

looks great. Very shiny and good looking. I really like the fade on the body.

ahh my eyes.. its to... clean!!! lol :jk: great looking truck.. i think ima sell my savage soon and get a 4.6

I know I am glad I got the itch to buy one after the 4.6 came out. I like kits, I feel more in control of the quality and I learn a lot more about how things go together than with an RTR.

Nice Savage.

I like kits too. In fact, all of my RTR's have been completely taken apart and put back together just so I can get familar with the construction and make some minor upgrades. I like wrenching more than running.

Oh forgot to add that I also installed a New Era wheelie bar. Hope it's put to good use!

nice looking truck if you drive on dirt you wont need a wheelie bar. reminds me of the day i got mine built. make sure you loosen the glo plug a bit when cranking it the first times as compression will kick your knuckles ass. try not to rip the pull cord to hard ither. short strong pulls. if it wants to die and not stay idled lean the idle screw in on the hsn. it's set so rich for break-in that it easily loads up with fuel killing the engine.

let us know how it goes.

i haven't been using my truck lately. $3.00 a gallon for my cars gas and $10 a qaurt for my nitro. i choose car fuel at this time to insure i can get back and forth to class and see a few reggae shows.

blessing and it's nice to see more k46's on the scene.

I added a roto start (actually, a duratrax super start, which is a lot more powerful), so pull start isn't a problem. I only do short, quick bursts on the starter, so no danger of hydrolocking.

How does your truck handle with the tires . I am running Tmax tires right now

it handles pretty well, after I took the preload spacers out of the shocks. since I am still breaking it in, i don't know completely on the handling department.

thank you. I am so glad I went with the MGT tires, they look like real monster truck tires.

sweet truck bud
i just got my savage and a minor carb problem and set on the sidelines till later this week ,but i will have a 4.6 just love the idea of building your own

Yes, you really learn a lot more by building it yourself, and you know it's done right. Too many other commitments this week to get it out and finish the break in, but I'm hoping some time frees up. I have a 7 day on and 7 day off work schedule, so I have 26 weeks a year to run, so I am sure it will happen eventually.
