RC Driving Style
it was a wonderful thanksgiving day, very nice and warm. I decided to go bash my savage and show off to my family and friends. Well i was going off a jump i made myself and the car landed sideways and did about three flips. everybody standed there in awe and told them not to worry, i flip my truck back over and it wouldnt move at all. The engine is on and i can move the wheels, and i can pull back the throttle and the engine is running, but it wont move, what is wrong!!!

well i shook the car, and i looked inside the car, tis like if a small pebble is wedged in somewhere thta wont let the wheels move, this is so weird:depress:

that could be many different ways...

check the clutch and spur gear

check the center drive shaft..

check if the springs in the clutch shoes...

check everything...

damn this sucks, well have to go to the lhs, i really do not know what is up with this car!!!!!!!!!

LOL :sorry: don't mean to laugh but that does suck! check the CB and spur gear, if you are still running the stock plastic spur it won't take much to strip it or knock out a few of the teeth and that my friend puts and end to a good day, did it land pretty hard or what? Just remember concrete and asphault are not forgiving to our rides, better to bash in the dirt or the back yard, hope the damage is minimal on your ride.

yea it looks like i did strip the spur gear, it landed like a rock and if i think about it it is kinda funny, well i be heading to the lhs on sat. so no big deal, gotta go shopping tom on all this store deals. thanks for all the help and happy thanksgiving!

Cool glad to hear it wasn't too bad after all, new stock spur is only 4 - 5 bucks, or a RRP 52t Metal spur with a 15t CB is about $45, just a little something to consider in the future if ya can't afford it right now, just be sure if you do go with the metal set it is a good mesh before you go bashing or else the CB will be stripped in a matter of minutes! Happy Thanksgiving!!:hi:

the RRP is a 52T and 14T CB

Yeah, the RRP is a 52/14, but the CB I got with that kit sucked so bad I ended up using the stock 14t CB. The only RRP cb's I've seen have a pretty rough inside and it looked to me like it would eat the shoes pretty quick, so I used a stock one. The spur on the other hand is well worth the cost of the kit, period. If it gets stripped, you got some other major problems also. If ya have the bucks for the RRP, I'd suggest getting it. It also makes an interesting sound as opposed to the plastic spur.

yeah... I am using an OFNA 14T vent CB... I still have my RRP 14T CB.. then I have a HPI 13T... 15T... and 18T... I am very happy with the 52T / 14T set up...

for my spur gears I have

52T Metal RRP
48T GPM
52T Stock
49T Stock..

look at the video section...

The guy at the other LHS says he can get me an 11t CB............so I told him to get one so I can check it out, wonder how well that is gonna work with my RRP 52t spur?? He says it is made by someone he knows that is heavy in to fabricating and he has already installed 2 into 2 different Savage trucks (both 21's) and the torque is just sick! I'll keep you guys posted on this if you are interested, and if it turns out good I'll see if he can make them available and post a link as long as that is ok with the mod's and admin.

You can also mod a Strobe slipper to a Savage and use 1/8th scales bells.

Just drill two holes in the stock back plate for two 2mm set screws, tap the holes and add the set screws so the pin that holds the back plate doesn't go in so far.

Then take the Strobe slipper and round out the center to fit the bigger bearing, use the outer guts from a Tmaxx and you are in business. Make sure to use shims on the side of the bearing so it can't fall out, but yet leave it room so if the pads get worn it doesn't have melt down from less tension on the pads.

I have a few Savages with C5's and I can use a Strobe 51 tooth and get the power to the ground. The controlled slip you get makes the Savage INSANE.

I like the Savage much better than my T's. With just this mod and a HUGE powerfull engine for upgrades I can whoop the bageebus out of my T's.

It will go down the road at 20-30 mph, hit the snort and it will ride the rear bumper with ease.

Very fun ride.

11T CB????? you'll probably going like 20mph... I've used a 13T and 12T... 13T is the break point... anything lower you will get tooo much torque and break the CB... i've done them on a 12T.... 14T is the best for the Savage... a lot of torque and good top end as well...
