Well, for anyone who was in the small block section, I ported and polished an old M-16 Megatech of mine, then rebuilt it with a new piston/sleeve that I had.
Threw it into the ole Brick for break in, and I'm really really anal about breaking motors in, so I turned it one extra turn past where the factory break in settings are. New OS A3 glo-plug, new batteries in the glo-ignitor...
Bam, starts right up and idles through a full tank(Idle to max trim adjustment spitting fuel the whole time).
Tank two about 30 minutes later, leaned back to factory settings, fires right up, idle-1/4 throttle for about 10-15 minutes.
Tank three about 15-20 minutes later, leaned out about 1/2 a turn on the ls and hs. Hmmm, hard starting, but it started, and ran through the full tank, no heat problems, still warm to the touch, but not at all hot to the touch.
Tank four about 30 minutes later, leaned out a full turn on the ls and hs. Starts right up and even gets the brick moving, so I go to the driveway for the moving part of the break in. No problems, nice idle, and I'm only pulling it to about 1/2 throttle, good throttle response already.
Tank five about an hour later, leaned out just a bit more on the ls and hs, starts, runs, great throttle response.
Come's back HOT AS HELL!!! It was even spitting fuel out the exhaust still? I did'nt pull it past 1/2 throttle and I was folling break in procedures that have served me with great running engines that last... I usually run about 8 tanks before I even think about full-throttle or even tuning it out for that matter.
Any thoughts on why it was hot? Like, burn my finger on contact hot.
Ooops... sorry about the long ass post...
