hey guys new to the board here and also a new LST owner. just picked her up on wednesday and tried to run it yesterday. she fired up no prob, but would not mnove. radio gear works....what gives...

Does the engine revv up at all? Or does it just do nothing? Check to see if you linkage moves with you pull the trigger.

more info?? new? used? if you got a cam maby you can take close up pics of the truck and maby we can "see" whats wrong and tell you about it?? check the servos, throtle linkage, carb, does it rev up or not?? will it roll when its off??

Ok I hope this helps but my bros had the same thing going on with it initially and it was the Battery problem and the fact the engine was new. The engine was running so rich that it would literally burn the clutch till it caught. I have also learned the clutch has been a problem with it.
Two things to check, the RX battery and the clutch.

thanks guys. here's the poop on the LST

Picked it up used, but from a well known member so i know its not beat.
the engine fires up, and all linkages work properly. radio is fult charges as is the recvr batery. clutch was just replace with the mugen racing set, so i'm pretty sure its not the clutch, but i'll check it tonight.
the truck rolls freely when off and on, it just will not go when i give it gas...DO i need engage the tranny from neutral? or will it automatically do it???

Does the engine die or it just won't go? Have you checked your linkages? WHen Off does the throttle linkage engage and pull out the slide? Then WHen it is on does is do the same and it doesn't move?

This may be a stupid idea, but check and make sure your clutch shoes are in the correct way.

Does the engine try and revv up or does it jsut do nothing? When its off take off the filter and check to see if the carb slide opends when you pull the throttle.

took the filter off, carb works fine....slides no problem when the truck is on or off...
linkages work fine on and off. when the radio is one it moves all the linkages with no isses, its just when i start the engine it just revs up when i give it gas and slows when i hit the break.it seems like the clutch is not engaging...that my only thought. and the shoes are in correctly...

Check to see if the shoes are not glazed.

okay. check everything that was mentioned...all checked out fine...
i decided to check the radio 1 last time...and it the tranny stuck in neutral. the 3rd channel was not active on my radio so the servo never set the tranny...

man do i fell like and ARSE!

Lol, it happens to all of us. I once spent 2 hours trying to get my old savage radio to work until I realized I had the wrong Tx lol, man was I pissed. So you got your truck running great?

yeah, its running awesome. i can not believe the power the mach puts out. it was keepin up with my buddy wasp 26 savage in low gear. when i switch to high gear, he was still sitting on the line when i was 20 feet in front of him...gotta love it. now i just need to upgrade to the RPM arms and I'm. everything else is already done for me...

I have the same problems with my LST except mine does move but only with high RPM so its not the 3rd channel causing the problem. The clutch bell rotates OK so it looks like a slipper problem I think but I can't see anything wrong and the tension is correct.

It's a new one just run in so is still very rich. Reading further up about someone else's being too rich from the box - was it a long way off? If I full throttle it the engine chokes up and cuts. If I slowly open the throttle it revs hard and is very smokey before it pulls away. Could this just be mixture or do I have a clutch problem as well?

Many thanks!
Dave

Hi -thanks for responding. The hi-low selector seems to be correct and I've tried both settings but they yield the same result. Is it possible that some damage has occurred to the gearbox if this selector was in the wrong place to start with?

i doubt its a gear issue if the truck is new. my problem was that the forward/reverse servo arm was basically in neutral. check to make sure the gear properly engages. if it does, check for binding in the drive axles.
