Let the poverty games begin!! My drift car chassis has finally been completed, with take off electronics, a random body, and budget friendly servo/gyro....off to a free venue for trials!!

This is kind of the rat rod of drift cars. Motor, rx, tx, esc are all hand me downs from the arrma fury. Body is random, and rocking these cool attaboy stars over the original post holes.

It came to me painted and decaled.
So I take no credit for the wonky taillight, or the racing stripes on the hood and tail....the don't cross the roof.

That license though...I did that.

I spent a little time for the first time ever poking around actual drift culture online. Posts on social, forums etc. Long enough to understand a lot of it is not for me. I will not be learning a whole glossary of Japanese terms.
I have learned the most important term...."Boro" which commonly refers to a trashy ghetto build. And just like that I have found niche within the culture to continue to build this car around. With hopes that 1 day it will peak at the very prestigious "Boro Boro" ....the 2nd 1 apparently designates it as a clapped out beater now only suitable for practice.

I can see me getting some good use out of this car. I need tires that are better for the surface available. Overall it was a really good time, and offers something on days when it's raining that is almost like being outside.

Yeah, I can see that. If I had anywhere to run a 1/10 chassis, I'd probably build one. But there's nowhere here smooth enough for it.

If I track down tires that work well on asphalt and parking garages I'll let ya know. Would open up a lot of opportunities.

I figured with nothing to lose I would give it shot on the asphalt in front of the house. It actually seems smoother than the cement at the parking garage
I need more traction out back. Yokomo makes a drift tire specifically for asphalt which I may have to try one of these days.

Found some from g-made as well that listed as a "soft" compound and rated for asphalt. Got a set coming, gonna throw em on just the back first.
G-made sounded more ghetto and appropriate for my "Boro" drifter,lol

So does the gain adjustment on the gyro make it more sensitive where it takes less to make it active, or is it the same amount of sensitivity, with more power when it is active?

What I found online says both more sensitive, and more powerful. With an average setting between 50, and 70%. I kind of feel like I'm adjusting too many things at once so I'm gonna put it at 55 on the low side of average and stop messing with it till the other tires show up. Which leaves me free to play with weight bias alone until then.

That sweet roof top sticker will not stop the confusion that sets in when you see that the windows were chopped in an uneven format, but the roof was not.

It is...but they aren't even,lol . I never looked at this body very close. I got it in a buy with another body which was much better. This 1 was not much to get thrown in. Now that it's on a car I'm actively using/working on and I see it all the time....wow

It would, if we had smooth pavement around here. LOL I live in podunk, and our pavement is roughly the consistency of 80 grit sandpaper most places. I could maybe find somewhere to run one, but like most RCs without others to run with, I get bored fairly quickly. Do keep us posted though for sure, interested to hear your tuning progress.

I am starting to get somewhere. Still running on the factory redcat plastic tires. The blacktop is definitely less abrasive than the parking garage, and has less traction...who knew?? I decided the car needed to be more planted overall. And dropped an Oz of lead on each end, and have moved the motor to a rear ward mounting position. Gyro at 55% and I can get some big sideways sweeps on the asphalt. I do still think some different tires at least in the rear would be a step in the right direction, but it's getting good!!
