Next we cut the old tire strip down and add extra foam.

And now I have done the same extra foam trick to the outside channel on the rim....it's better, but they still do not stay put on the rim. Once reset they stay long enough to drive and feel out these new hoops....and they are awesome! Long sweeping controlled slides, and the option to pull out and go straight. Significantly better forward motion as well. I'm all out of foam options, time to start looking at glues unless anyone has better plan??
 
A quick shot of cheap hairspray or spray paint? You can still get them loose with a firm grip and twist. Old school trick for motorcycle grips.
Right on. I'll have a go at that next if the spot weld with e6000 doesn't work.
A put 1 at 6 and 12. Gonna let it dry overnight and try again tomorrow.

I notice they make aluminum rims for drift cars in the 6mm offset I require for this. They would be heavier than the plastic on there now. The motor stays nice and cool where I have no concerns about adding a little extra rotating mass. Extra weight would potentially change the vibration coming through the wheels and suspension....maybe the tires would stay on better? Anything else to consider? How does extra rotational mass effect wheel spin and slide characteristics?
