is the savage xl as big and bad ass as everyone says? I'm currently selling off all my rigs and buying 1 new one, i am debating between the savageXL or keeping one of my revos
 
Well I don't have an XL, but if you look at most of the basic mods out there for the Savage (21, 25, etc...), most of them are stock on the XL. So it's gotta be an interesting truck. If I had to buy a new 1/8 truck today, that's the one I would buy.

I did read not so good reviews on the engine though...compared to some big blocks out there.
 
Well it is good if you can make the OWB to work. search for problems on the OWB on savages.
 
Dang, just looked at one on Tower. Freakin thing looks huge.
 
Have you looked at the X SS kit? It has most of the same upgraded parts as the XL and it's a kit so you get to learn about your truck as you build it. You can also buy extended, lower center of gravity tvps for it to make it the same size. You also can choose the electronics which are going to get an upgrade anyways. Just a little food for thought.

This is what I did, put a better radio system in it as I already had the 3PK, put a better motor in it and put the XL chassis on it among some other mods. I coudn't be happier.
 
Forget the 1/8 nitro crap, man! If you got the cash for an XL just save up a couple hundred more and get a Baja 5b!

When I was looking into them a few months ago it was closer to double the price of the typical monster truck, not quite the $200.00 you mention.
 
I've heard they are very tough, minus the engine. As previously stated, sell it and buy a new one?
 
i have heard the same on the 5.9 engine problems imho i would go with the savage x ss kit and build it the 4.6 is a bad a$$ engine
 
I have and xl and yes it is everything you could hope for, engine problems though.
 
The xl is awsome. My first nitro, unfortunatly I'm glad to here that I'm not the only one with engine problems with 5.9 like the owb, and just tuning the thing is stupid. I didnt want to think it was just me being my first nitro motor, then i bought the picco p3.... Runs great, easy to tune... no problems. All the guys at the metal fab shop i work at are like "holy **** that thing sweet, how much did it cost".
