Got a revo awhile ago and among other replacement parts i was wondering if the supercharger and the dual exaust where just a novelty? Also I believe in the philosiphy of driving/breaking/hopping up however, what aftermarket parts are recommended or prefered.

Thanks so much

I have read somewhere that the superchargers do not improve performance on a nitro engine.I don't recall the particulars but it had to do with an extremely high rpm necessary before it would have any positive effect.

I was wondering the same thing?and how about NOS?

I have found the best upgraged were:
JR9100T STEERING SERVO
JR9100S THROTTLE SERVO
SPECTRUM DX3 TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER
THESE IMPROVE CONTROL AND PERFORMANCE
---------------------------------------------
TRAXXAS TUNED PIPE
MOTOR SAVER FILTER WITH PRE FILTER
2 STEPS UP IN SPRING RATE REAR,1 IN FRONT
SET OF PROLINE BOWTIE TIRES FOR THE TRACK,BADLANDS FOR EVERTHING ELSE.

The vast majority of superchargers do not work on nitro engines.

However there is one I know of that does work. It is sold at a LHS near me and is used mostly for drag racing.

Most people assume that superchargers can't work for nitro engines for various reasons like:

no valves
intake and exhaust ports open at same time
high rpm
exhaust pressure

But the truth is that none of these things are a problem. People were just looking for excuses why their RB supercharger didn't work.

I've heard that dual exhaust on a 2.5 or 3.3 TRX is a death sentence. They might be ok for big blocks, but I have no experience with them.

Most agree that in box stock form they offer very little performance gains. However, IMO that depends on the circumstances. I just recently started a project in which I'll be attempting to run both an RBI supercharger and N2O with a 4-stroke. I can't say for certain what the outcome will be but that's sort of the point. I've read of people wondering if they would work for 4-strokes but I've yet to see anybody actually do it and report their findings.

Isn't that beside the point? Even if it worked on a 4-stroke that says nothing about it working on a 2-stroke.

Oh, and I think I briefly remember an article in RCCA a couple of years that talked about the outcomes of a supercharger on nitro engines, but I could be remembering it wrong.

Oops. Sorry. I must have clicked on the wrong thread. I didn't realize this was "Is the Dual exaust and the Supercharger a gimmick on a 2-stroke" thread.

Yes, I'm aware that he has a Revo and more than likely a 2-stroke. I'm simply adding my point of view so that he can take all the information available and make a well informed decision.

Or would that be beside the point?

In a word, NO! Ever since I was a noob here the answer has been a resounding no. They look great but do not add power. The dual exhausts tend to rob power and make it hard to hold a tune. The superchargers don't tend to add power to 2-stroke engines and actually tend to rob power to spin them.

As I said, MOST but not all superchargers do not work on Nitro engines. I know of only one that actually adds usable power. It is patented and sold at one hobby shop in mesa arizona.

So to simply dismiss them all based on a few early examples isn't a good idea.

Well I just read an article on a NOS install,I think it was in the new RC Car Action magazine. The author claimed he could both see and feel an increase in speed and confirmed it with a 7MPH increase in speed. It probably shortens engine life but would be ideal for the quick burst if you could hook up the extra horses.
Cool factor (10)

Super charger I have not seen any proof of any sort that it does anything but even if that is the case and it did not hurt HP or Torque the

I was courious why the 4 stroke is not a more popular option.I would guess like in moto X racing the technology was not there in the beginning but now the 2 stroke is all but phased out by the reliability and usable power of the 4 stroke.

Not very different from the potential of performance that is being realized from diesle engines over gas.

I saw an add for a diesle RC engine ? I guess this may be heading into another thread.

How about a turbo charger for rc nitro?

limited RPM's and lack of manufacturer support. To my knowledge there is only 1 4-stroke engine currently on the market that is directed toward cars. It is a FS26S-C Version II made by O.S. Engines. It tops out around 22000 rpm. A good .21 2-stroke will rev almost twice that. Nothin wrong with the limited rpms, it just requires a 2-speed transmission to get the top end that we are accustomed to seeing.
