Is it possible to put this big of an engine in a T-MAXX???

Well, you used to be able to get a 21 conversion kit. Dynamite's was one of the most reliable IMO. Used steel cvd's all around and longer chassis rails vs a lengthened skid plate on the rear. You can't buy the kit from horizon anymore, but they can be found on ebay:

The problem that remains is all the money you have to sink into the diffs and trans to get it them to not explode on you.

When all is said and done, your better off buying a 1/8 scale rig that can handle a big block out of the box. Or, getting a drop in mid-block, then upgrading the drive train as you break parts:

The most cost effective choice would be the TRX3.3:

Drops in and not so much power that parts explode within the first tank.

Man thats a lot of work then as i expected!

Maybe one of these days i will build my own car but i don't see that happening to soon...
But like you said olds, you can put the traxxas 3.3 in the original T-MAXX can't you?

Yep. If yours came with the pro .15, you'll need to change the throttle linkage to accommodate a slide carb. The clutch, flywheel and starter needs to be swapped to the new engine as well. You'll want to upgrade the pipe to the resonator. I believe the header is the same.

okay cool so its not that much work!

Or i could just go ahead and buy a SAVAGE XL...

Hell yeah!

I have the 2.5 maxx and i replaced the old motor with the 2.5r which wasn't any better really!

The pro .15 has a side exhaust. You can get a whole conversion kit from traxxas for about 40 bucks. The pro .15 to 2.5/3.3 swap comes with all you need.

OOps I missed a post there. 2.5 to 3.3 is a direct swap. So are the picco .21, os .21tm and .18 tm as well as a few others.

THen the 3.3 would be a drop in. Only suggestion would be to get a better than stock pipe to let the 3.3 breath better. Read many good things about the resonator pipe by traxxas. Can probably find it on ebay for a deal.

Ebay $32.75 shipped, heck of a lot cheaper than tower. You also get a spare header and gasket which are always good things to have on hand. Item # is 360216148170 just in case the link doesn't work for you.

Well i already have a tuned pipe for my T-MAXX that i bought that has a pretty big hole!

Would that work? I thinks its aluminum or titanium.

i have a 2.5 with a 3.3 on it. go ahead and be ready to put new cvds all the way around. the spur gear strips super quick! but its pretty sweet when you get it all worked out!

That should work ok with the 3.3. I was only hoping you didn't still have the stock composite pipe as it was not a very good pipe, especially for the 3.3.

Nope i changed that pipe out with in the first few weeks that i had my truck!
