Is 3000 Diff Lock Okay For Front and Rear?

the lhs only has 3000, 7000, and some heavier weights. can i use the 3000 for the f/r? what's the difference.

which should i get?
 
Yes, 3000 front rear will be okay. I ran 5000 front and 3000 rear. If you feel like it you could try putting some 7000 in the front but I would start with 3000.
 
will one bottle do both? what the difference in the weights. more weight more traction less more tractions.

oh and my switch harness came in today. need the radio and receiver. i figure i might as well do it right the first time.
 
If you use the same weight for both diffs, then 1 bottle will be enough. The main difference between the fluid weights is that the thicker diff fluid increases the ability of the gears to “lock up". Thus, helping to give you an equal amount of power to both tires. Even if one tire is spinning in the air and the other is on the ground, the tire on the ground should also receive the same power as the tire in the air. With the old gear set-up, the tire in the air would be the only one receiving the power. Here is a simple guide for the different weights:

~ 1000 Weight Front/Rear - Good for Street & Offroad
~ 1000 Weight Front & 3000 Weight Rear - Good for Bashing & Light Racing
~ 5000 Weight Front & 3000 Weight Rear - Aggressive Bashing & Racing

~ I choose a little more extreme racing setup of 6000 Weight Front & 3000 Weight Rear. I also choose Team Associated because the viscosity is a little bit thicker than the other brands thus decreasing the chance of it dripping out of the diff case.

and thanks. got to feed the horses and then I'm off to the lhs to get some ofna 3000 diff lock. plus they are having mini t races tonight. I'm gonna have to get me one of those.

it looks like running 3000 f and r should be quite adequate.
 
run it heavy

I have a savage and lst and I run mugen 100,000 weight silicone in the rear and 30,000 in the front, if you want traction for bashin thats the best, I've been doing this along time and if you're strictly a basher and run it hard go w/ those weights it will almost give you a posi like traction in the rear!!
 
i just did the front diff. should i be hearing the spiders spinning? is it because the oil is so thick?
 
Are you sure you are hearing the diff gears or the bearings or something else that is rubbing? If it is the diff gears its highly unlikely to have them out of place if they spin without resistance.
 
it spins freely when I'm spinning them both of them in opposite directions. i can just hear the spiders spinning. I'm sure i got it right though. when i turn the shaft it doesn't make a sound. i got it right. i havent done the rear diff and when i hold one wheel still and spin the other it makes the same sound.

itchin to bash this thing up.

hopefully radio gear will be here tomorrow. can i dip the switch harness in plasti-dip? is it a good idea to do so. were expecting 2-5 inches of rain this weekend. and a foot of snow at mt. high. i may just go snowboarding if it dumps.
