  1. Bashing
so its been pretty hot down here in texas and i have been running the maxx like always temps and tune have been good.

couple weeks ago it was having a hard time starting. stuck a new plug in and all was well.

now it wont start at all, checked everything out, new glow plug. still no start.
only now my ez start motor would just spin. i figured 1way bearing died. got a new 1 and when i was replacing it i noticed it was at TDC or close to it. went to turn it and i could barely move it. its almost as if the pinch has gotten tighter. I've never seen this before. it rotates fine until it gets near TDC where it gets to the point you can barely move it.

oh yeah this is a picco .26 red dot with about a gallon and a half on it.

i havent torn it completely down yet but the con. rod isnt busted, front bearing doesn't leak. even with the head off where its not building compression its almost unbearable to get it to run through TDC. nothing looks outta place lol.

just wondering if any1 has any ideas or seen this before.

Same thing happened to my buddy's picco. We just assumed that some debris got into the engine. It was really gritty going through the pinch, and the sleeve and piston were scarred towards the top. We also determined the the hsn housing was leaking a bit, so maybe the lean condition that was causing had something to do with it. Funny thing was that the engine was running like normal. Good smoke, massive power, good idle, ect... Motor Saver filter that was secured properly; it never popped off or anything. We shut it off and put it to bdc like always. Then had the problem your having the next time we went to start it. He rebuilt it, sealed everything and hasn't had a problem since. He had about 2 gallons on his engine when the problem came up.

sounds like a plan then to rebuild it.

same thing here, was running great and had been then outta the blue it did this lol

I'm curious to see what the nitro guys have to say about this. This was before we realized that it takes a good gallon or so to loosen these mills up. We were running up around 260 after 7-8 tanks of fuel.:) I forgot all about this until I read your post.

mine had been running 230ish the last time it was running. good smoke trail, good power like always and bam no start haha.
stuck the 3.3 back in the truck to do some bashing this morning, i guess the picco power finally got the best of the truck though.

got it going this morning and front wheel drive only. rear diff is busted, diff housing is cracked and broke hahaha

The day will come when I purchase a nice mill, and I certainly don't want to make this kind of mistake again. Sounds like you treated your picco a little better than we did. We'll get some advice.:)

yeah i tryed to treat the mill decent but overall i just plain beat the doodoo outta the whole truck. was so much fun to have more than enough power for just about everything on tap.

nope not flooded, thats what i thought it was at 1st. i tore the mill down and everything looks good, both bearings are rolling smoothly, etc.

Everyone knows to put it at bdc when you shut it down, but try warming it up with a heat gun/hair dryer before starting it up cold. It's always good to do this on any new or newer engine.
