I just got integy shocks for my tmaxx that came w/the blue springs. I built them w/50w oil. My question is that my truck still bottoms out when I drop from around knee level. Is there supposed to be any rebound w/these shocks prior to the spring being on them? I can compress the shocks w/o any trouble at all. Thanks for any help.

Prior to the springs being on them???? if so, then no.

The oil slows your compression rate (and so do the springs) but it is the sole job of the springs to rebound your suspension.

Ahh ok so I should have no rebound in them? Gotcha....I will just anxiously (sp) await the arrivials of my trinity blues then. Thanks Christian

No problem.

When you build them, sometimes you might get about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rebound after you completely compress the shaft. I personally would back the cap off a little, compress the shaft slowly and as far as you can to bleed off a little bit of the oil. Tighten the cap back up and it should rebound but maybe 1/16th of an inch. To me, that is perfect. If they are under too much pressure, your chances of blowing seals in the shocks in greatly increased.

The MSR4 instructions haven't let me down yet. Great step-by-step procedures with pictures. If I had heard about the OFNA buggy/maxx kit sooner, I'd have those. But I'm still very pleased with the MSR4s. 2 gallons, lots of bashing, haven't rebuilt one yet. Come to think of it, I did loose a spring retainer, but whoop-dee-doo about that!

bomber you said 2 integy 8 coil? what does that mean? they came w/the crappy blue ones that my truck just laughs at. Although I would have to say it was pretty interesting trying to drive the other day...truck was all mushy and I couldnt roll that thing if I tried. It kinda seemed like driving a big ol 70's cadillac once it got that motion it just seem to flow. I had followed the instructions like they had said and got no rebound I was just worried maybe I had done something wrong while building them cause they were so mushy. thanks for the help

Soft suspension (springs and oil) are GREAT for what you described.

Gravel terrain, very small whoops and on-road terrain are all perfect environments for soft springs and oil. Like you said, you couldnt roll it if you want to.

Now the same applies if you stiffen the suspension with heavy oil and rock solid springs. Great for big air and lots of medium/high jumps. However, it may be real bouncy on the slightly bumpy and whoopy terrain.

So decide where you will run most often and tune appropriately. I always go with a medium suspension setup except for my buggy which I run as stiff as I can without causing the shocks to not compress or rebound at all. All I do is LAUNCH my buggy. No track time ever. Just BIG air.

2 Integy 8-coil springs - Integy has more than one set of green springs. The set I'm using have 8 coils. I'd show you a picture, but I haven't got one. Would you like me to try and find a photo?

2coolrc shows a large set of springs, it looks like pretty much all the different "weight" springs that Integy makes. The greens are shown in there, but the kit itself is out of stock.

If you read their site, the description of the blue springs they sell is a little misleading........makes it look like they are harder than stock T-maxx springs, and possibly even harder than the stock Integy springs. The reality is that they ARE the Integy springs, and the stock T-maxx springs actually do a better job.

But it was fun to watch Mike go into a full right hand turn at full throttle, and see the truck slide instead of flip over :)
